« on: Sunday 05 April 09 18:43 BST (UK)  »
Looking for the Scott family who lived in Brighton, England in the 1960s and emigratted to Australia c1964.

The family are parents Allan & Eileen Scott (nee Pearman).
Eileen was born in 1925 in Wandsworth, Engalnd. They married in 1946 in Brighton. They had 4 children: Hazel (*), Lee (*), Colin(*) and Neil (*).

I think we may be related so would love to hear from anyone who knows them.
Thanks Issy :-)

Hello,
I am looking for any Fidgeons or McAnnellys/McAnaneys or any variants of both names buried in Blackhill cemetery in the 1800 & 1900s.
Any help would be really appreciated!

Armagh / Re: LOY family, Forkhill - Irish Guards (?)

I didn't know the Irish wore kilts too! But, yes I think it a tartan. I have seen a book on Scottish regimental uniform and the shaping on the bottom of the jacket looked exactly the same. Thanks for that. Maybe I should post it on the Scottish forum too. I think I will have a go at restoring it myself. I have done some other old famil ones before and they came out quite well.
Regards
Issy

Hi Kerry,
thanks again for looking into this for me. You theory is exactly what I had thought. I have tried looking into who the 'Lord of the Manor' could be. Sebina was working as a Domestic servant in Keymer, Chichester in 1861 which is the closest to when Alice was born. I did have a theory that as she was born and brought up in Cowfold the dirty deed may have happened there. Her father was a farmer and the family used to live at Peacocks Hill. Its very likely that he rented land from the nearby landowners whose house happens to be called High Hurst and is just down the road! However from the research I have done apparently the dean and chapter leased this property and I cannot find who was there around this time. However it seems her family had moved to Walberton, Arundel by 1861 and there don't seem to be any landed Hursts there. I think it maybe a wild goose chase to be honest!

Hi Kerry,
Thats funny I have not come across that record on LDS before. I had searched for Alice Walder & Slater! However even though Edward Slater is mentioned as the father this still doesnt follow as she is named as a Walder and in the census records she is first a his daughter, a Slater (1871) then his step daughter, a Walder (1881)! The only consistent thing is that her birthplace is stated on all census records as being Chichester.
Thanks for your help.

Armagh / LOY family, Forkhill - Irish Guards (?)
« on: Friday 13 February 09 10:26 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,
I wondered if anyone could help me with this photo. It's apparently a Thomas Loy whose family was from Forkhill, Armagh and came from some cousins in Ohio, USA. They say its an Irish Guards uniform but it looks suspiciously to me like a Scottish regimental uniform. Its not a brilliant picture I know but he seems to be wearing a kilt and sporran. Can anyone throw any light on this at all?
Thanks
Issy

Many thanks for all those Kerry! Very helpful as i didn't have those dates.
William Walder did marry a Sarah Shaw and that matches what I have too.
I was hoping though maybe to find something on Alice, Sebina's daughter - is there no baptism for her there? Maybe she was baptised in Chichester?
