Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / Re: Long Newnton P.R.- Sarah Turk and Thomas Davis

Gillg,

Thanks so much for all your effort! I truly do appreciate it. I'm disappointed that Sarah is not in Long Newnton ( I felt confident that she would be found there!) , but I'll keep on looking for her. Perhaps she'll turn up in a parish whose records I'll find more accessible. :)

Thanks also for the info about the Davis family. Phillimore's Index recorded a Davis marriage in the time period in question. At least I know now that, that couple did not have children there.

Again, thanks so much for your help. I was really stuck as the RO couldn't even supply me with fiche of Long Newnton's PR's for my time period.  Root Chatters are the greatest!!!

Kind regards,

Donna

Chas,

I  looked on Gen-Uki and according to them the parish records for Long Newnton have been transferred  to the Gloucester Record Office. I checked their catalog and Wilts online, and they are in fact there and not in Wilts. I'm don't know why the earlier  records aren't in Wilts too? Thank you for your help!

Kind regards,

Donna

Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / Long Newnton P.R.- Sarah Turk and Thomas Davis
« on: Monday 14 September 09 05:18 BST (UK)  »
Hi!

I was wondering if anyone who has access to Long Newnton's parish records could help me? I'm searching for the births of Sarah Turke (between 1693-1700) and Thomas Davis (between 1693 and 1700).  They married in Tetbury in 1718, but unfortunately after searching the parish records neither appears to be born there. I have access to the Bishop's Transcripts and see Davis and Turk families living in Long Newnton, but the records are missing for the years I need. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Kind regards,

Donna

Thanks Orpheus!

I'll check Turville first. I was leaning towards there, especially with its connection to Therfield in Herts.

Everyone, thanks so much for your help! I think the best thing for me now is to check out the deaths in these places and hope one of them pans out. Again, thanks!

Buckinghamshire / Where is Tyrfield? Please, help!
« on: Monday 29 June 09 13:04 BST (UK)  »
In the wills index that is on the Bucks archives site I believe I located a will for an ancestor (At first glance it appears promising.)  Anyway, the index gives the place as Tyrfield. I haven't been able to locate this place after using google search, mapquest or an old map I have. I used the will index search again and typed Tyrfield in alone to see how many "hits" I would get. I just got one which was the person I was interested in. The only place that comes up using "google" or mapquest is Therfield in Herts. Would a will from Herts be in Bucks? I'm supposing that Tryfield is a small village. Does anyone know?
Thanks!
