Kent Lookup Requests / Re: Horsmonden Marriage, Birth, Death - Avard
« on: Tuesday 16 February 16 10:31 GMT (UK)  »
Thank you for your comments.
I have hit a brick wall with Thomas Avard.  I cannot trace a birth or death for him.  There appear to be too many Thomas Avards around the area at the same time.
Any ideas from anyone would be gratefully received.

Kent Lookup Requests / Horsmonden Marriage - Avard
« on: Monday 15 February 16 17:34 GMT (UK)  »
Hi.  Can anyone help please.  I have found on FindMyPast the marriage of Thomas Avard & Mary Hobbs 2 September 1789.  I wondered if anyone could look up the original Parish Record to see if it gives the parents names of Thomas Avard.  I cannot find his birth or death either.  Thanks in anticipation.

Kent / St John's School Tunbridge Wells
« on: Saturday 22 March 14 14:51 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, can anybody help me with a photo/school registers etc of the above school?  My Grandfather, Frank Avard, was a pupil.  He was born 1890.  The school is mentioned in a "missing" report in the Kent & Sussex Courier April 1918.  He was a PoW but that is another search!  The report says my Grandfather was well known in Tunbridge Wells.  He worked for Dr Lammiman and Mr R Benson-Jowitt as a groom.
Thanks for any help anyone can give.

The Common Room / Trawlermen/minesweepers WWII

Lowestoft WWII.  Apparently trawlers were converted to minesweepers.  Can anyone help me find a Herbert Ward (born 1904) who was apparently a fisherman and went into the Merchant Navy on minesweepers.  He somehow fell down a companionway and ended up in a wheelchair.  He lived around Halesworth area in 1911 census.  Thanks for any help anyone an give.

Many thanks for your help.  It isn't quite what I need though.  I think my grandfather was in the army, so I don't know why he was on the acquitania.  His military records didn't survive.

I'm new please can anyone help me.  My grandfather served on aquitania oct 1915 to feb 1916 when it was a hospital ship.  Can anyone please guide me to any info about the ship during that period eg where it went, would I be able to find his name on any crew/patient lists?
