« on: Tuesday 21 July 09 19:09 BST (UK) »Hi Jackie
Here he is being promoted Major - http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/issues/15993/pages/79
Plus:
London Gazette of 3 January 1797 –
He was an Ensign in the 49th Regiment and transferred to the 60th Regiment as Lieutenant, London Gazette of 3 January 1797 - http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/issues/13968/pages/11
http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/issues/13968/pages/11
Also – http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/issues/15104/pages/116 - 2 February 1799,
And he became an Ensign in the 60th here - http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/issues/13941/pages/974 - without purchase. The war with France was in full swing, and not enough officers were buying commissions.
Hope that helps. I am not sure but there may be one missing. You are correct, the George becoming an Ensisgn in 1807 is not him. He dies in 1810 I think.
