Hello Alan

Yes I've all those wonderful details about Sorrowless Field etc - a potted family history in one go.   I did manage to restrain myself from doing a jig across the - always - crowded space at DRO but only just.  Then of course that led me to Google and discovered lots more info about the names that are mentioned as witnesses - some are relatives.  But finding these posts tonight did me a good turn as I didn't know of the births/baptisms of Janet & John.  A great big thank you for them.

Hello to a member of the Bertram/Bartram clan.  I too have them as ancestors!  Rbt & Janet had another son they called Robert b. 01/06/1815 baptised 02/07/1815 at the Presbyterian Chapel in South Shields.  Robert Bertram was a wheelwright by trade.  Their son Wm married a Harriet Summerbell 11/06/1831 at Durham St Margarets.  I have plenty of info re Harriet, her siblings & step siblings plus her parents & g.parents and of course Wm & Harriet's own children

Durham Completed Look up Requests / Re: Monumental inscriptions for Tow Law.

Thank you adamand for your quick response to my query and to the moderator who so kindly helped me along to your site.  I am going to Durham Records Office very shortly so will look up those Catholic baptisms you mentioned.  Much appreciate your assistance to point me in that direction as the vast majority of my ancestors that lived at Hedley Hope were staunch Methodists.  The John Wm Etheridge is the son of the Wm & Mary I was so interested in
