Wiltshire Completed Lookup Requests / Re: 1841 or 1851 Census Enford please
« on: Tuesday 19 October 10 12:32 BST (UK)  »
Hello zeel
You seem to be interested in James Meridew born about 1805. James is my great great grandfather. I was wondering if you have found out who is mother and father are. I suspect that it is a lady called Jane Meridew but I have not been able to find any documentary evidence of this. I also think that his father is a man called William Naish but since according to his marriage certificate he did not know who his father was then we will probably never know for sure.

Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / Re: Pullen and Greening marriage/census

Hello Theresa
My name is Greening. If you go to the Winterbourne Family History Online web site you will find loads of stuff on the Greenings. It includes all the Census records and all the parish registers. Somebody has done a fantastuic job on transcribing them all. Using that web site I have traced the Greening family back to 1777. As you say they moved to Wales sometime in the 1860's. My father was born in Wales and always thought that he was Welsh. However my research has shown that he did have some Welsh blood in him but also a lot of English.

Hello Joyce
Have I found yet another relative on the Hedges side of the family. The address 9 Regents Court was the address that my nan Eliza Hedges gave when she married my grandfather Tommy Hughes in 1914. I haven't managed to find Regents Court. I think that it was somewhere near the New Road in Chatham. I am always after photographs. Do you have any of the Hedges family?
Best Regards
Peter

Hello India 2
My name is Peter and my nan was Eliza Hedges the sister of your nan  Rose Ann Hedges. I have a photograph of Eliza with a lady who I believe is her sister Rose Ann. Perhaps you may be able to confirm this for me. You are correct about Margaret Boswell. In fact my nan adopted her daughter Joyce after she died. My mum Rose always moaned about the fact that she had to share her bedroom with Joyce. I have a photo of Joyce with Eliza. I also have a some stories about Henry Hedges your great grandfather. However I am not sure that they should be aired in the public domain. If you care to send me more details about yourself and your e-mail address then perhaps we can go into more detail.
Regards
Peter

Sorry Maggott but since I am new to this I was unable to reply to your personal message about the Hedges so I have resorted to replying by this method. You said that Thomas, James, William and Job were all brothers and were the sons of William Hedges. The problem seems to be proving this although the evidence to date seems to suggest that it is true. What evidence do you have to support this?

Hello Jenny
I have just stumbled across your posts on the Hedges family. My name is Peter and I can confirm that we are related. My great grandfather is Henry Hedges who is your great uncle. I was amazed to see a photo of him as I do not have one. Do you have any other photos of the Hedges family? My nan is Eliza Hedges born 1894. I remember seeing Henry Hedges just the once but my nan pulled me into an alley because she did not want to see him. I am afraid he was not a nice man but I can tell you about that later. I trawled through all 36 pages of the posts and I can help confirm some of your findings. I have extracted some of the pages to have a look at later but did you manage to solve your original problem about the Hedges brothers and subsequently who their parents were? By the way I was brought up the Brook area of Chatham but I currently live in Gillingham.
This is the first time I have posted anything on Roots Chat.
Let me know if I can help
Regards
Peter
