I believe I have found her on 1939 register in Birmingham with parents James and Leah Chapman.  The record is noted that she married in 1945 to Lynes.

Sister Winifred married someone named Pye and sister Leah a Phillpotts.

From 1921 census the A J Major living at Wellington Street was b. Hull in 1874 which would fit with the birth registration posted by Tony.

A sunny mild day here , had a few tiny strawberries with my Weetabix, little Alpine ones, such intense flavour ,just a few at any time

I have had a little strawberry plant growing in a pot in the top of an old chimney pot for years. This winter it was looking very tatty and I nearly disposed of it but my daughter’s dog loves the odd little strawberry so I didn’t have the heart to throw it away.  She visited yesterday and enjoyed her little treat so I am glad I didn’t.

Daughter and s-in-l are in the process of moving from Worcester to West Yorkshire so big change for them.

In 1939 living at Shepshed there is an Emma Burns married and living with Ann Walton. The family seems to come from Newcastle.  In 1931 James Burns married Emma Walton, in 1948 Emma Burns married Wallace Cunningham. If this is the same Emma maybe James died in the war?

In 1881 there is a McWigan family living on Church Street Bollington.  Head of household is Margaret age 42 unmarried and there is a son Edward although aged 9 which is a bit out.

I wonder if the names/ages of Edward and John have been confused as there is a son John on census aged 4 but I can only find a record for John born 1871 who could be aged about 9 and Edward would be nearer 4.

Sorry for the confusion Lizzie, I know it gets confusing without names but as this is a strange situation which I may well have wrong I didn’t feel comfortable including names.

Sequence on events:

1780 - father marries first wife

1781 - eldest daughter born (mother? of groom in 1838 marriage)

1795 - father’s first wife dies

1795 - father marries second wife and she dies in 1804

1806 - father marries third wife

1808 - eldest daughter marries

1817 - son of eldest daughter is born (groom in 1838 marriage)

1819 - half sister to eldest daughter is born (bride in 1838 marriage)

I really just wanted to know what others thought about this being a likely scenario, as it would have been illegal and I am sure frowned upon morally.

Thank you all for your interest.
