Hi LizzieL, I cant find that Eastbourne marriage in 1803 on Family Search or FindMyPast. I can see it in Ancestry,  but as I too  am not currently subscribed could you share any additional  details please?

Thank you, LizzieL. Given the limited means of communication at that time, it is indeed likely that the vicar was not advised

Hi Charles, It is a little while since our last posts in this thread ! I was looking at your Walker lineage tonight and noticed that you have Samuel who died in 1820 being born 1722. I have found an a record  for him in the   Leeds Mercury 8-1-1820 which reported his death "last Saturday" "MALTSTER" aged 53. This puts his birth date about 1766. I have chosen his parents to be Samuel 1742-1786, and  Jane Chaddock 1742-1820, both of whom were buried in the Mill Hill Chapel. I could be quite wrong here; I chose them for their Mill Hill connection. I am not currently subscribed to Ancestry so was wondering what you currently have for Samuel 1820's ancestors?
Kind regards
Bruce

Thank you Trish1120. The absence of records or the inability to find a record does not exclude an event from happening, so  I would not like to discount my cousin's theory because I had missed something or because the relevant record was lost. In this chase though , it is looking more likely that he has been mislead by unsubstantiated information posted on the net.

Thank you to all who have responded. I posted this query on the Northumberland page as this Algernon is pa member of the Percy family that occupies Alnwick castle.  I too have found the records of hi "natural" Swiss daughters and the fact that he made provision in his will for them , but not for the nebulous Henry makes me think that Henry either was unknown to his father.. unlikely given the claims for Algernon having married..or that he was born of research error and then given a life on  the internet,  with people quoting other's work without validating it. However, I am far from infallible and wanted to ensure that I have not missed something. Any of the actual [ microfilm] documents I have found in relation to Elisa Dias de la Peņa and her daughter, link to my GG uncle Henry [ Enrique] Priestly . Henry separated from Elisa not long after the birth of their daughter Enriqueta, and  died in Montevideo 1871.

Northumberland / Henry Percy son of Algernon Percy the Diplomat

I am looking for evidence of a Henry Percy, perhaps a Henry Prestilly Percy born around 1830 to 1833 allegedly the son of the Honorable  Algernon Percy  [1779-1833]  and an Anne Marie Fitzgerald. Henry appears in a number of family trees and also in some Wikipedia entries but without any references to original documents that can be accessed independently. Henry is not mentioned in his father's will which is available from the UK National Archives. The historians at Alnwick Castle do not have any details of him either, as he is not in the main line of Percy descent. One  Argentinian family's oral history has Henry to be their ancestor, whereas my families oral history has my 2nd great uncle Henry James Priestly as their progenitor.

Eastbourne was a military post of some importance during the Napoleonic  wars. Given James occupation  of sutler, it is quite possible that he followed his regiment there. The marriage date is between the dates of his banns published at St Martins. Would the banns have been publishes automatically even if the couple had decamped ?

Thank you Denis. That would be appreciated. I have been through the Marriage Banns on  Family Search  but could not find the marriage. Perhaps it was by licence

Dear Denis,
Thank you for your input. Your explanation certainly fits. Nor can I identify James parents. I have Sophia Hill's baptism in 1779 St Marylebone, but not her marriage which I expect would have been 1802-1803 given Susanna was born September 1804.
William Morris married Mary Ann 9 July 1834 in Colombo according to his military record. This is also noted in Find my Past. Unfortunately I cannot identify in which church that they were married . They do not appear in the Kabristan Archives [ that I can see].
I cannot link James Austin and Dr William. However Dr William is linked to to Morris family with his marriage to William [1808-1883] sister Sidney Sophia Morris in Newfoundland 1806
Regards
Bruce
