Jon,
I read your message, but as a newcomer to this site could not work out how to reply to your e-mail directly.
My e-mail address is (*) or (*).
I guess you are Uncle Fred's grand-daughter. By coincidence I recently had a letter from Stewart,  Freds son, and caught up with nearly 50 years news. I was introduced through Uncle Jack's son, Ian Shepherd, whom I met after a 50 years gap at my daughter's wedding.
I recall that Fred had another marriage, of which I know nothing. I only have fleeting memories of Stewart's mother, Auntie Nessie. I also partly recall that Fred was working in Africa- maybe Nigeria- maybe for the BBC???
As a child we used to visit my grandparents John and Elsie Shepherd once a year at their lovely bungalow in Hornsea, next to the Rifle Range. In those days it was an epic journey from West Wales. Grandma (Elsie) couldn't walk, but was full of laughter. Grandpa (John) was like Corperal Jones (Clive Dunn) from Dad's Army, and had many medals and stories. After my father died in 1963 i think that Elsie and John died soon afterwards, and we lost touch. I do recall that my father was very fond of his older brother, Fred.
I would be excited to hear more about the Wraights and the Shepherd. I am known as Wraight, and am very fortunate to inherit this name. Is it true that it comes from Kent, from a village near Dover?
Look forward to hearing from you direct,
regards
John Nigel Wraight Shepherd

Hello,
I came across your enquiry by accident- I had "Googled" my middle name "Wraight"
I am the son of Bill Shepherd (WCW Shepherd), grandson of John Shepherd, both of whom are described in your corespondance.
My father died in 1963 when I was young, living in Wales. My mother died some years later. My sister still lives in Wales, but I am now in Scotland.
I would be interested to find out who you are, and what you know about my father and grandfather, both of whom are distant childhood memories.
