Thanks Teresa - would they be able to email me that information as I live in Cardiff?  Funnily enough though I was in Barlborough yesterday and saw that on High Street there is 'Manor Cottage' - a stone built detached cottage at the roadside on the left hand side if driving towards the Dusty Miller.  Would this be the same thing?

Anyway, I'll contact the centre and see if they can send me some information.

Thanks.

Thanks for the tips.  Yes its from the 1911 census - so people entered the address themselves.

I have had a go at looking at adjoining pages, but it seems the people on the neighbouring pages have been very vague about their addresses and just written "Barlborough nr, Chesterfield'!  I am wondering if it might have been on High Street - on the 1901 census that is where they were living.

John Thomas White and his wife Jane, born 1864, a coal miner, if anyone wants to take on the challenge.  Where I am right now the internet connection is very slow for running ancestry.com

Does anyone know where Manor Cottages were in Barlborough - or do they even still exist?  Even better would anyone have any photos?

Derbyshire / Mosborough- Old Lane

Would anyone know anything about 'Old Lane' in Mosborough.

I am researching people who lived at this address in the 1840-1860 period.  According to Google maps it is now part of the Holbrook Trading estate - indeed on some of the censuses of these people (White) the place of birth was recorded as Holbrook.

Do any photos of 'Old Lane' in days gone when it might have still resembled its mid 1800s state exist anywhere?  Or does anyone have any information at all?

Would anyone know where parish registers for Killamarsh/Eckington/Barlborough etc are archived, and can they be seen?

:D  I sent an email to Worksop Library as suggested, and within couple of hours had a reply with attached scans from the Worksop Guardian of 17th October 1919 which gave extensive details of the accident and a photo of one of the victims.  Alas the photo was not of John Thomas White, but of the other man killed.

Still, an excellent result and great service from the library.

Thanks for the tips.  I will follow them up and let you know what I find, though as I am not in the region, it won't be right away, unless of course the libraries can do it for me.

Claire where did you find that information?  It is most helpful.  Thanks.

In Wills and Probate the death is recorded as 11th October at Southgate Colliery.  By google searching searching I also found the Nouch guy on someone's family tree page- also recorded as 11th October.
