Hi

Is this the same family as the film actor
(Luther) Miles Mander (real name Lionel Henry 14 May 1888 – 8 February 1946) ?

. . . . . with a popular jazz pianist in the family?

Ray

Sorry to say No, Miles Manders Came from the manders of Wolverhampton, the Ink and paint people manders paint, Manders varnish & inks,
The Manders Family we are from are The Manders Menageries Funfair & Circus from 1850s, so far there is no connection to Manders Inks family, Plus I have looked at there tree. no connection.

Hertfordshire / Re: William Webb allegedly born at Hertfordshire c1835 KIA 1854

To Abygale.

This is probably no connection to your Webb Name... but in my family tree I have 3 x Webbs from Hertfordshire area that are connected through a marriage into the family, they are older than your 19 year old solder man they could be great gran parents?
Father James Webb of Watford born around 1700s
Mother Sarah of Watford born around 1700s
Daughter Mary Webb of Watford 1728 - 1808 , she married William perry of Rickmansworth 1759

Now I haven't checked to see if James & Sarah Webb above had other children, they probably did, if they had boys the Webb name would carry on , plus if they stayed in the area.

this may or may not help?

I have been researching the manders family tree for years, I have been stuck for most of that time on Tracing the oldest family member going back to 1700s.
William Mander .. I cant find his parents, where he came from, birth & death record. Also his trade.

Also his wife Rachel Perry 1772b Rickmansworth, I cant find a death record or place buried, but have all the Perry family from Rickmansworth from 1700 - 1800s ie her mother father brothers sisters.

What I know William Mander Married Rachel Perry 12th Oct 1794 in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, they had 4 x children all christened at St Marys church Rickmansworth
Joseph Mander 1795b, Elizabeth Mander 1797b, Ann Mander 1798b, James 1800b

I have most of the Mander or manders tree to present date, ie from about 1850 they had the Manders Menageries funfair / circus show through William James Manders 1821b and James manders 1832b both cousins, the above William Mander Married Rachel was there Grandfather and grandmother.

Also William Mander most likely came from another area, Rickmansworth is a Hertfordshire town, but close boarder to Buckinghamshire, Surrey, London, Warwickshire???

If any further info I can give please ask

Hello
i have checked the name Newsomes...in all the trees i have there are no Newsomes, or and Womwells.... the womwells were a revile manageries show.
Also the Carmichaels side came from Bridge of weir scotland... Jean Carmicheal whom married Frederick Gallaher in 1914...her parents were Malcolm Carmicheal and Annie Stodert..... also just to confuse Jean Carmicheal metioned here on her birth certificate her name is Jane Watret Carmicheal but she used the name Jean.
Her sister was Isobella Carmicheal she married a William Macfarlane or known as Billy he was a famous football manager for a scottish team early 1920s.. then he became a famous pro golfer in the USA 1930s 40s winning over 30 major golf PGA tours.. there are books on him and said he was the tigar woods of his day?
Also i have a Will when Isobella died.. my mother Jean Manders was names in the will along side carmichaels cousins etc.

Also back to the name Newsomes, i think i might have a census with a newsome living on a showground with the manders..... but as i said cant find a marriage or family connection yet.

love hear what you find out, if i find anything i`ll let u know

I now have all the records for all the gallaher family plus the carmichaels. anybody else looking email i`ll give all the details. (*)
also just to confuse you more and me at the time.. now sorted out....Frederick James Gallahers 2nd  father is also Frederick James Gallagher 1st from Ireland... then there is a son from the 2nd Frederick James Gallagher 3rd still alive 87 years old... and his son Frederick James Gallagher 4th..... so in brief 4 generations of the family with the same name handed down.
