Rosie,
Thank you for that, like you found the 1861, very happy these are the right gals and guys, finding the mill would be the bonus!
Slasket could be Hesket?
IsaKill could be Hazelgill?
as we do, just thinking out loud to myself!

Many thanks - Mark

Cumberland / Location Help
« on: Monday 14 November 16 10:26 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, wonder if anyone can help.

I have an Ancestor Jane E Chipchase, born c1859. (possibly Jane Elizabeth Hodgson/Hodgeson)
Found her on 1881,1891 & 1901 census shown born in Cumberland.
However place of birth is given three ways, search of the web has not proved fruitful.
Possibly phonetically incorrect, possibly very local, any help as to location, gratefully received.

1) slaskat, Cumberland
2) Erscal Mell, Cumberland
3) Iskile Mill, Cumberland

Many thanks - Mark

Hi Guys & Gals, I've been away from Family History for awhile, so just re-acquainting myself with things, still looking for incidences of Geernaert Family in UK, Canada, New Zealand & possibly Australia. The family lived in and around Colchester in Essex related to other surnames as below.
Any pointers gratefully received. Regards Mark

Essex / Re: Lexden photos

Hi, i have found this thread very interesting, i appreciate its been dormant a while, i have ancestors from Lexden, but have no clue what it looked like. I would be grateful if there are vintage photo's available, i would appreciate a copy. My particular interest is 'cottage' Lexden High Rd, and 'cottage' Lexden High St. My ancestors were there in and around the 1830's - 1860's with the surnames of Geernaert (tailors) and Everett (carpenters)
Any help or assistance would be gratefully recieved.
Regards Mark
