Thomas John Grinyer (Btn 1811) was my 3rd Great Grandfather. I have unraveled some of  the family history but would be grateful for any further that I might be missing.

I still live and work in the general area of where the family lived. If anyone would like photos of addresses and other places of interest, feel free to drop me a line.

Does this help? An old posting from 2007 on this hospital and what would happen to patients......

Many thanks for the pointers, will give me more reading in my quest.

Islington records are online at Deceased Online, it's a subscription site.

but I don't think he's there

Thanks for that one. I have checked and you're right, it doesn't look like he's there.

All suggestions are very much appeciated.

Thank you for your help. I'll widen the scope a bit and see if that turns anything up. If he was interred with another family member, would this not show up on the enquires I made?

England / Looking for burial place

Bit of a long shot this one but here goes.

I'm looking for the burial place of a great Uncle, John Edwin KING d.o.b. 23 August 1897 in Bethnal Green. He died on 23 December 1938 (age 41) at St. Alban’s Hospital, Napsbury, Hertford.

I have checked with St Albans District council cemetery office and they can find no trace of him.

A family member suggested he may have been buried in the Tottenham area of London as that was where he was living prior to hospital admission. I have checked with Haringey council and there is no trace at the cemeteries covered by them. They in turn suggested Islington and Southgate.

There is no trace of him at New Southgate cemetery and a check at with Old Southgate has proved negative. So far, I've been unable to get a response from Islington.

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas of where I could check next.

Many thanks

Thanks for taking a look. I'm trying to get a bit more info from family on this. Attempting to find out if a family took it and then had it made into a card or not. The quality certainly doesn't look professional and looks more like an amateur, opportunist type shot.

Helloo, This is a random stab in the dark.. I actually googled Helen Waring..

Right.. So my nan's real mother died when she was 1, her name.. Helen Hill, formely Waring....

Part of the Harding and Waring family ??
Any connection ?

I don't thnk that there is any connection there I'm afraid. Helen/Ellen married into the Maw family and died under that name.

...and the backs.

Just to add that neither photo was in a frame and no other supporting information. The only thing I can say is that if these came from my fathers side of the family, these would have been from the Poplar, West Ham, North London area.

Oookay, I've gone through the 'brown case' and rescanned the imagesat a higher res. You may notice something I initially missed (how, I don't know) - the wording on the back indicating that these are parts of postcards.

I notice too that in the crowd picture, there are at least two people who appear to be saluting  or cap doffing. I am also of the opinion that that the rearmost vehicle does appear to be a hearse of some sort.

If needs be, I have scanned the fronts of these cards in even higher res and have hosted off site and can be downloaded here:
