Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / dorsington baptisms
« on: Thursday 12 July 12 11:47 BST (UK)  »
i'm trying to find the baptism of a thomas sollis born about 1827 in dorsington which was in gloucestershire until 1931 and then came under warwickshire so not sure which board to use. i think the church is st peters. i have no idea who his father was or if there are any siblings. also the name gets mistranscribed on censuses as Lollis plus a variety of others so having a tough time. if i can find other family members  it will help me on the early censuses. any information gratefully received.
many thanks, janet

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Re: commissioners of oaths
« on: Friday 16 July 10 20:13 BST (UK)  »
i posted this 5 years ago so am trying to think what my train of thought was. i wondered if this could be to do with some inheritance as there was a rumour in the family about one. also i believe sometimes these bible pages were used to prove a marriage or birth etc if the documents were lost or birth not registered and a commissioner of oaths swore that he'd seen the origional entry. grateful for any info or thoughts, best wishes, janet chard

« on: Friday 19 May 06 20:13 BST (UK)  »
dear rootschat, my great great grandpa met with a nasty railway accident in 1878. an inquest was held on dec 9th 1878 and i am interested in finding out how the accident happened (cause of death: a goods waggon passing over his head). does anyone know where to apply to for a record search?
grateful for any info, janet chard

dear carole, i found betty and george raw on the 1841 online ancestry site, interestingly it was their granddaughter sarah raw b about 1823 that i was looking for, found her living with the grimshaws birth given as 1816?, and then noticed at the rhs bottom was george and betty.
have looked at the enumeration districts for lancashire for 1851 as was going to trawl through the pages but only gives prestwich cum oldham whose only entry is the oldham workhouse . have looked at middleton and crumpsall but prestwich itself was a reasonable size so can't work out  why not listed.
the plot thickens, janet
