I don't know if it will help or you have tried it but there is a link/button at the top that says "switch back to old seach experiance" might speed things up for you? :)

London & Middlesex Resources / Re: Looking For Policemen ????

As this thread is getting a little old, a few of the early links don't work any more. I am having real trouble finding out how to obtain police records.

From what i can make out from the above my best bet is to actually go to National Archives - Kew to get any info. I have tried searching: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalogue/RdLeaflet.asp?sLeafletID=104
But to me the website doesn't make any sense.

On the 1861 Census my GrGrGr Granddad (Joshua Luetchford, Born: 1821, Living: Elder Road, Norwood) occupation is listed as Police Constable. I would love to find out more. Anyone off any advice? Is it worth me posting a "Lookup request"

Sorry for my ignorance, a bit of a newbie on this FamilyTree business!  :-\

Cheers
Stewart

My 2 Pence Worth.... I have just started researching my family tree and tried a couple of applications but have to say MacFamily Tree is really good. It has a few things that I found awkward but I guess as with any new piece of  software, its just getting used to it.

This app works well with iPhoto and other media. MobileMe account's work really well, produces an easy to use web version of your tree. I wouldn't say it's pleasing to the eye but a great reference tool without any hassle none-the-less.

Also there is an iPhone app that is compatible. I haven't used it as yet but the reviews aren't too bad. At least they 're a forward thinking company and keep updating the products.
