Lancashire / Re: looking for HARRISONS
« on: Thursday 31 March 11 18:46 BST (UK)  »
I'm sure we have a connection somewhere via the Harrison's from Much/Little Hoole and Longton but I cannot yet work it out.

My 5 x great grand parents Cuthbert Harrison (1742) originally came from Freckleton, Lancashire just across the River Ribble from Hoole, in those day's people farmed both sides of the river and travelled across the ford frequently.

My 4 x great grand father Richard Harrison (1780) was a farmer on Turnpike Rd, Hoole and all his children were born in Hoole. He would have been a neighbour to your relative Robert Harrison (abt 1781) in 1851 both are listed on Turnpike Rd.

I need to revisit BMD records for both sides of the river to see if we have any link
If you would like a GEDCOM file of my Harrison data please let me know your email address

I have been researching my own branch of the Harrison families from Hoole (Much & Little) and Longton. Looking through my notes I found

Robert Harrison (b abt 1781) married to Ann Gill (b abt 1786) had a daughter Margaret Harrison (b 1817) in Much Hoole. Margaret had 2 sons out of wedlock. Edward Harrison (b 1839) and Thomas Harrison (b 1844).

As can be seen from previous posts Edward was with his mother Margaret in the 1841 census living with Robert and Ann Harrison, also with his brother Thomas in 1851 living with GP's Robert and Ann. In 1849 Margaret married Richard Hesketh at St Marys, Penwortham.

Lancashire / Re: Help with Ellithorne please

There is a William Ellithorne age 70 in the 1841 census living in the Shambles, Preston, Lancashire. He is listed as being a Butcher. Also in the household is my 4 x Great Grandmother Ellen Winn (nee Hodgkinson and several other relatives of my family.

Ellen Winn died in 1842 and in her will she leaves provision that William Ellithorne should have board and lodgings during his life, provided by Ellen's children Joseph Winn and Margaret Newsham (nee Winn)

I am not sure of the relationship was between William Ellithorne and Ellen Winn???
