Hi everyone,

Thankyou so much for all your help.

I just switched my computer on (9am UK time) and I got two messages from a lady who was related to Clements wife.

She has told me everything I need to know, he did live in Brandon  and he died in 1964, she has even sent the the obituary from the newpapers, he had one daughter (Frances) who later married and bacame Frances Drysdale, there are surviving grandchildren etc .

My search now goes forward to finding them

Again thankyou all for your help.

Dianne

Canada Lookup Request / Clement West
« on: Tuesday 20 January 09 10:26 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I have been trying to find out about my G G Uncle Clement West.

He was born 23rd May 1886 in Birmingham England to Alice and William West

He was later sent to Canada as a "Middlemore Homes Child" on the 15th June 1895 , he sailed on the "Carthaginian Ship from Liverpool to Halifax Nova Scotia.

He appears on the 1901 census living in Prince Edward Island and is employed as a "Domestic"

I found a reference to Clement in a family tree and he appears to have married a Margaret Annie Matheson. However the date of this marriage is not known by the tree holder and there is no other knowledge of either Clement or his wife.

I cannot find either of them on the 1911 canadian census, the only reference I can find is a Clement West in Quebec, but the age doesn't match and the relatonship to head of household doesn't match either.

Any help would be appreciated

Canada / Re: Home Children to Canada

Hi everyone.

I am new to this forum so hope I am doing this correct

I have an ancestor who was sent to Canada in 1895 via the Middlemore Homes Project , I later found him on the 1901 canadian census , after that he disappeared, however I found a website for the Prince Edward Island (where he was sent to) and he appears briefly in a family tree, therefore I know he married.

I am still hopeful that I will find more about him and of any descendants .

I don't know if any of you are aware but you can now access Middlemore homes childrens records, they were subject to a 100 year closure but that has now been reduced to 75 years. . If you google search Middlemore there are many links including a register which lists children sent to canada , date sent and what ship and their destination port
