It's awhile since you posted, but I'm wondering if you found the information that you were looking for on Daphne Pattinson. She was my 4th cousin twice removed. I do have information.

I am looking for information on Elizabeth Lamb family born around 1800, married James Smith. They had a son Robert born 1830. (Robert emigrated to Lanarkshire in Scotland before the 1871 census, he married Esther Pollock, Kilmore, Monaghan, Ireland).

Monaghan / Alexander Pollock - Elizabeth Spiers
« on: Sunday 05 June 16 00:32 BST (UK)  »
I am hoping to find what happened to Alexander Pollock, born 1790-1800, Monaghan Ireland, who married Elizabeth Spiers & their families.
I know for certain that they had Esther 'Essey" Pollock, born 1842, married Robert Smith, son of James Smith,  13 August, 1857, Kilmore, Ireland.
Esther & Robert went to Scotland where she died 10 February 1900, Blantyre, Scotland, Robert died 1 December 1907, Blantyre Scotland.
Did Alexander & Elizabeth emigrate to the USA. ? There are plenty of records with the name of Alexander Pollock, Monaghan, Ireland but nothing of Elizabeth Spiers which would confirm this was the right couple.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Catherine (Kate) born 1843, West Indies, died September 1880, in Auckland,New Zealand.

There is no record of the 12th Foot serving in the West Indies. You will need to research the muster books in Kew - they are not online - starting at a date you have a good idea he was in the 12th. Ann's birth is recorded in the regimental BMDs so you can order a certificate to confirm the regiment. You can then work forwards to 1843 for Kate's birth. My guess is that East and West Indies have become confused. Then forward again until you find him dying. Each book covers 12 monthly musters and will tell you where he was, and when (if ever) he transferred to a regiment that did serve in the West Indies.

I cannot see Kate's birth recorded on the regimental BMDs. So where does this information come from?

The 12th where in NSW and NZ in the 1850s which explains why at least two children stayed there. The regiment was in Portsmouth at the time of the re-marriage. so I think we have the right regiment.

I don't believe Patrick was in New Zealand. Death records of Ann & Catherine state they were born in Mauritius.
Mother Ann's 2nd marriage to Isaac Taylor resulted in them coming to New Zealand. Isaac joined the Royal New Zealand Fencibles & sailed with the family on the ship 'Inchinnan' arriving in Auckland 1852.
I have Isaac's British army records, there is no doubting he was in the 12th foot,   (1ST BN 12TH REGT OF FOOT).
I have a long way to come to search the muster books,(seeing they are not online.)

Thanks for the replies. Since I posted my original message I have been able to update my records on Patrick & Ann. Ann snr. death record lists her father as Tom Murphy yet on Ann & Isaac's marriage record he is listed as Walter Mullally.
Their first born Joannes, born Sept.1833, Gosport RC,Hampshire England, died October 1834 in England.
Their  daughters Margaret, 1836 Dublin Ireland, died 1899 in Australia,
Ann, born 1839, Mauritius,died 1877 in Auckland,New Zealand
Catherine (Kate) born 1843, West Indies, died September 1880, in Auckland,New Zealand.
No information yet on what happened to Patrick Timmins, although since wife Ann married Isaac Taylor in 1848 he obviously had died, but where & when.?

Hi, thanks for that, I have exhausted all the info that I can find on the web and was hoping that I might find some personal info, such as character, (although Isaac was awarded a good behaviour medal,so that speaks volumes,)  looks etc. I'm not in Auckland so can't visit the Howick historical village, but it looks very interesting.
I'm also looking for info on my g/g/grandfather Patrick Timmins who also served in Mauritius, but so far nothing.
