Hi Mark,
If you've had no luck at the Durham Records Office don't despair. I have been there and thought I was doomed never to find certain records. If your ancestors were Irish you might try looking in the records of churches such as St Wilfreds (Bondgate) which are at the offices. I have found Irish Catholic ancestor records there for members of my family who were living in Witton Park. Census returns show most people from Witton Park as living in Escombe due to the way the parish was catalogued. Hope this is of any help. PS if you know of any history of the Segary/Segarf/Segriff/Segrave/Seagrave/Legrave/Segruff family please let me know (they are all variant names I have found in census records for my ancestors)
