Hello Hilary

I have made some progress with John Ellis JONES since my last post.  I now have the details of his marriage to Jane DACKIN.  They were married by banns in Llanidloes on 22 May 1835.  As this was pre civil registration details of his father are not recorded so I have been unable to go back any further.  There are several possible baptisms in Machynlleth that could be him but if you are able to give me further information on my 3 x great grandfather I would be very grateful.

Edith Catherine appears to have been baptised in Llanharan.  I think the Peterston referred to on her birth certificate would be Peterston Super Montem, a parish adjacent to Llanharan.

Hi Dai

There's a copy of the will of William Thomas on the National Library of Wales site  http://hdl.handle.net/10107/827118.  It mentions five children - Evan, Iseiah, Mary, Noah and Martha, a brother John and his wife Barbara.

Best wishes

Hi Amanda

Benjamin Parks and Ann Thomas (both of Merthyr Tydfil) were married by banns on 28 Nov 1812 at Merthyr Tydfil.  I don't have any further details but it's likely that the only extra information the parish register would give you would be the names of witnesses, who may or may not be closely related to the bride and/or groom.

Copies of parish register entries can be ordered by post from Glamorgan Archives.

Hope this helps.

PS Isn't Rootschat amazing - you post a message before going to bed and when you get up in the morning it's all done - I wish it worked the same for housework!

I'm hoping the wonderful restorers of Rootschat can remove some of the creases and marks from this photo.  It's a photograph of my uncle who passed away last year. I would like a restored version to give to my mother as there seem to be very few photographs of her brother.

Many thanks

Ruth

Hi

There's a record for the marriage of Leonard J Walbeoff and Olive Griffiths in the Oct-Nov-Dec Q 1919 at Bridgend, Glamorgan and a record for Olive Walbeoff travelling to the US aboard the Aquitania, arriving 26 Jan 1928 with a son Caradog D Walbeoff.  The travel record also states that she is travelling to join her husband Leonard at 70 Wayne Avenue, Carbondale, PA which is the same address as that given on your gr grandfather's naturalization papers.

Hope this is of help.

Best wishes

Ruth
