Hi Meg.

I have Mary Carlaw being bor in 1790 to John Carlaw and Margaret Walker.  I have John Carlaw and Margaret Walker married 12/1/1783.  They had children Margaret Carlawborn 1784, GeorgeCarlaw born 1786, James Carlaw born 1787, Mary Carlaw born 1790, and Euphan Carlaw born 1793.  It seems strange that William Grays parents would be the same: John Gray and Margaret Walker?  I will look for the christening that you have and see - strangers things have happened!.  I have William Gray's birth as being in Livingston about 1778, so this seems to match.

Thanks Meg,

Joanne

Hello Meg,

thanks for the info.  I have most of what you found.  I am sure the 1841 and 1851 census are the same family, just the 1841 ages for William and for Mary ar off for some reason.  The age for Margaret is okay - I have her marriage, death, etc.  they also had a son John born 1822 (he is my direct link), and I have all his information.  I am just having a difficult time going back further.  I know his parents are this William and Mary (Carlaw) Gray.  I will try the link you listed and see if I can find more.

thanks so much for the into.

Hi Jean,

Thanks for the information.  I will check into these names and see if they are related (they probably are).  Also, do you know if there is a burial listing for those who died after 1855?

Thanks again.

I also have been lookig for West Lothian inscriptions pre 1855.  Specifically, I am looking for the family of William Gray .  William Gray died between 1851 and 1861.  They lived in Linlithgow from birth, marriage, and census records.  His wife was Mary Carlaw who died in 1863.  Any info would be helpful.
thanks, Joanne

Thanks, David, for the information - every little bit helps.  Hopefully one day I can get back over there and do some more searching first hand!

I've had another lead and am wondering if there is a Margaret Sinclair Fotheringham buried in Clackmannan?  She would have died between 1841 and 1860.

thanks for all your help.

Thanks for the great information!  Do you know if Marys mother, Ann Sinclair (married name Young) born abt 1811 died abt 1857, is also buried there?  I have a reference that says she was buried in the Clackmannan Churchyard.  Also, what does the Clackmannan Parish consist of, are there more than one cemeteries?

Thanks, Joanne

Am looking for burial/death information for Young/Sinclair family.
Ann Sinclair born about 1811 in Clackmannan and believe died 1857 and buried in Clackmannan churchyard.
Her daughter Mary Sinclair or Young born about 1847 in Clackmannan.  She may have died young - after 1841.
Her son Andrew Young or Sinclair born about 1838 in Clackmannan - have lost track of him after 1851
Thanks for any info or direction.
