Cavan / Re: OWENS of Cornagleragh/Oldtown/Moynhall
« on: Monday 27 August 12 20:41 BST (UK)  »
I grew up in Moynehall and knew the Owens fami well. Thomas was  the father. i cannot remember his wife's first name but I think she was a Nixon. They had the following children that I knew:* aged about 56/57 now. He was the youngest . Others were *, *, *, * and *. * and * are living in England. I think * lives in Dublin. * was the last to leave. I think he lives in Co Meath now. He is married and has a number of children. The farm was bought out by Cavan Co Council a few years ago when they built the Cavan town bypass. I live in Dublin now but i will make enquiries to see if anybody has an address for any of the family. As far as i know the parents are buried in the Church of ireland graveyard in Cavan town.
You could try The Anglo Celt newspaper for mention of the family.

The 1826 George is the son of this George. I have looked at the military records but the last time I was in Kew the card index under which he had been listed was missing. Thanks for replying.

Devon / George Watts
« on: Sunday 26 August 12 12:22 BST (UK)  »
George Watts married Henrietta Mackinnon in St Mary Arches Church on 35th June 1798. George wasa Veterinary Surgeon with the Dragoon Guards and Henrietta was described as of Parish of St Olave. She was a member of the Mackinnon of the Mackinnon clan of Scotland and I understand there is aemorial to her brother in St Paul's Cathedral in London. George went on to have a successful career in Ireland and Britain as a veterinary surgeon and as a breeder, trainer and owner of racehorses. However I have been unable to find out where he wa originally from. I know he had a brother John who also spent some time in ireland as a vet but he returned to England before George died in 1858.
Hope somebody can suggest a line of research.
