Australia Lookups completed / Re: Mary Gunny Foundling Hospital/House of Industry

Hi Del
Got all the funeral notices for Catherine corrected on Trove today, so it should be easier now for other researchers to find them! Also copied them to Ancestry as a "story". I'd better finish the Xmas cards, then it's back to my attempt to finish the Cox Lynch section before the end of the year. I could well use a few more pointers, but will let you know. And not that we ever really finish, but I need to get back to my own!
All the best for Xmas and the New Year, and I'll look forward to meeting you one day.
        Cheers

Hi Del

Thanks for confirmation and other information! I actually found the funeral notices very late last night, and was too tired to correct them then, but about to do so. I have now put John's family onto Ancestry, should you get a chance to look at it there. Put in Septimus Cox Whitehall and my "name" is fuzzyar. Would be interested in going to a Cox get together although not family!

All the best from Annette :)

Hi Del

I've returned to John's genealogy, and am just checking Mary Gunny's other children. Am I right in thinking that Catherine Lynch married Michael Bulger, had a lot of children, and died in 1916?

         Cheers Annette

Hi John/Jap/Cando/Cazay/Jenn/Terra etc

Just to finish what I accidentally posted prematurely (!) my friend is waiting on certificates, and is in search of John, not George Hood, but I thought I'd mention that his line is Samuel/John & Mary Martha (Hubbe)/Thomas & Martha (Heesh)/.  If we discover anything interesting that you haven't already covered, I'll post it.

There is a set of microfiche covering NSW Probate records which I think goes to 1983.  Big libraries should have it in other states. Smaller ones often have it here in New South.

Thank you all for the collective information which I shall pass on to my friend.

Hi John/Jap/Cando/Cazay/Jenn/Terra

Read the postings on George Hood as I'm about to start helping a friend with his Hood Genealogy

Point taken - had registered and posted in rather a hurry, and hadn't even noticed that there was a profile to fix up (my first time on a chat/forum site)!  I also thought that only those interested in John Thomas Whitehall would be likely to reply.  As I'm doing this for a friend, I'll probably unsubscribe myself from this website in a few weeks, as his reunion will be on in March, where he expects to get some clues re the missing Granddad, and I have heaps of other things to do for myself.  Sorry to have wasted your time

Thanks
Annette   :D

Thanks Diddy and Nick

I'm actually in NSW, Australia, and our death indexes are available up to 1978.  I've also checked several other states, and will be doing more this morning, but I think there was a marriage separation, so he might have died under another name. I've checked every known variation of his name, and also under parents' names (an advantage of our indexes) - no go.

There's a big gathering of the extended family coming up in March, and the friend I'm helping will ask then - possibly our only real hope for a clue.

                                   Thanks for your input

Family History Beginners Board / Whitehall, John Thomas

John Thomas Whitehall born 1871, but am still trying to determine when and where he died.  His son with same given names died in 1942, and I believe John snr died before then.  Anyone have any ideas?

Hi Del

You're welcome and who knows, one day one of those marvellous transcribers might get to Mary Gunny's records! LDS has a big project going. I send a copy of that document to you with John on March 7th

All the best from Annette   :)
