Hi Wildgoose

I found practically the same attachment to a 1904 marriage cert that was corrected in 1920, the cert was from Ayrshire. After quite a bit of hunting i managed to find a reference to it in the NAS catalogue, wondering if it is worthwhile going through to edinburgh to view the item. Have you had any luck? did you find yours?

Sorry I know this isn't keeping on the original topic but wanted to reply to a previous post

For Liz Hamilton.....

I've been trying for a while to find out more information surrounding the marriage between Peter Tweedie/Jessie Ashwood. Certain details you have written about above seem to tie in with what i know eg hughs father was a hairdresser, Jessie died only a couple of weeks after childbirth also i can't find Jessies birth certificate and the time frame is similar also.
On Hugh and Jessies marraige cert. she states her parents are William and Mary. Perhaps we could be looking for the same people

It would be interesting to hear from you

Hi Andrea
I was going through to Edinburgh to look for a will post 1960. Like you i believed i would find it in the Historical Search room. When i called they told me that wills post 1960 aren't in the Historical Search room but in the Legal Search room. They will perform a search to see if a particular will exists - for free. However if you want a copy it will cost £6. If you send an email to legal@nas.gov.uk they will deal with your enquiry without you needing to visit them.  You need to tell them the name of person, the date of death and their last known residence. Hope this helps.
