Hello, what can I help with, myself and my husband have various connections via the Rootes/Roots, as turns out we are 10th cousins when the names divided, one to Kent others to biddenden/ husbands Rootes to east sussex, inc. the car and cycal Rootes.

Hi all, wonder if anyone can help.
Have the above born of a Jane Roots of Walton on The Hil surrey, thomas about 1801, have been told(can't find it) that he was registered about 1 month(on 9/4/1801) after birth of Thomas in  Bastardy order again William Haydon of Carshalton surrey The haydons were Butchers in Carshalton cannot find anything on them, assume jane & william born about 1775-1780, Thomas ended up in Sanderstead,surrey 1841 onwards(he lists himself as born in Woodcote, mitcham,surrey) where he married, can't find john at all, any help appreciated with direction to go, or any answers.

Hell Ella, thank you for replying, sounds funny that they adopted the 'Vansittart' name, but perhaps this was a very prestigious name to have, any thing else that you can give me would be nice, just for updateing records, your Edward Vansittart  found his father (ithink edward also)but cant tie into the family as yet.

Hell, just came across the 2 messages re|: Vansittart Bowater, am interested also to know how the name Vansittart got into their names, my grand aunt marrriad a bowater in croydon(both widows) are you able to help me.
