Agree with your thoughts, Carol.

I don't like the 'over-cooked' photos - as you say, they lose their historic 'feeling'.
  Sometimes using the modern techniques seem to change the photo so much it is hard to recognise the original person.

Definitely for  William, but I can't see Beamer for Frank.  However I am prepared to be corrected! 

I just can't see the first letter in Frank's second occupation word as a B.   :-\ :-\ :-\   Is it?

Look at the very clear B in the word Bachelor by the same scribe, two lines below.
