Devon / Trying to find WHITEFORD/WHITFORD marriage Littleham (Exmouth)
« on: Monday 12 July 10 19:11 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I'm hoping there is a kind person that can help me find the marriage of a James Whiteford/Whitford and his wife Mary.  James is my 5Xggrandfather.  He was born in St Stephen in Brannel Cornwall in 1773 and after serving in the Cornish Militia he arrived and settled in Littleham (Exmouth) in 1801.  He married Mary (from 1841 census), between 1801 and 1809 most probably in Littleham.

I have been able to trace the Whiteford/Whitford family back further but I am missing some significant information regarding James Whiteford, his wife and and son William Henry Whiteford.

I would really like to know who my 5xggrandmother is!!!!

James died in 1849. Mary died in 1850.   Their son William Henry Whiteford died at sea in 1851 so there is limited information available from census entries etc.

I have been unable to find a baptism/christening record for William Henry Whiteford - I suspect it may be in the Littleham Parish Registers.  He was born sometime after the marriage of his parents - probably in the first decade of the 1800's.

I would really appreciate any help with this as it has been a mystery for a number of years.
Many thanks

Devon Lookup Requests / WHITEFORD/WHITFORD of Littleham (Exmouth)
« on: Wednesday 07 July 10 21:50 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I'm hoping some kind person will be able to help me.

I'm looking for the marriage of James Whiteford/Whitford and his wife Mary (?) at Littleham (circa 1801-1809).  James was originally from St Stephen in Brannel in Cornwall, but settled in Littleham around 1801.  I have copies of settlement records - he was single in 1801 but married in 1809.

I'm also looking for baptisms of their children, especially William Henry Whiteford/Whitford who was born sometime between 1801 and 1810 in Littleham.

William Henry Whiteford married Dinah Pratt in 1822 at East Budleigh.

Both James and his son William Henry Whiteford died before the 1851 census - the 1841 census gives limited information.

Any help or advise gratefully received!!!
Thanks

Hi Betty - just saw your posts regarding the Joy family and would greatly appreciate it if you could give me the information for the family of Robert Joy and Winifred Wood from Headcorn.  Any other information regarding parents of Robert Joy would also be appreciated.
