Hi Judy,

I wish you success in your quest and sorry I could not be of further help. I will be interested to hear the story you mentioned of some of my ancestors.

I have ordered some books on the Travellers of Scotland about the Williamsons, Watsons, etc.

Take care.

Hi Judy,

I have looked up what I have on the Williamsons with those forenames. My Gr-Gr Grandfather, Thomas Williamson (1826-1886) was married twice. In his first marriage he did have a son, John Williamson. Unfortunately I am still researching this marriage for further information.

The other surname has not shown up yet but will keep you posted. Sorry I could not give you any more helpful information..

Hi everyone,

Plodding along with the search and appreciate any and all help that is given. I am trying locate a few things.

1. When my Gr-Grandparents were married. Their names were Walter Thomas CHILD (B Feb 18, 1885 at 280 Lower Rdsd., Kent) and Alice Elizabeth WOOD (B Sept 20, 1883 at 3 Caitlin St., Surrey).

** I can confirm they had their first child, Thomas, in 1904, then a son named John in 1907.

2. Any information on the parents of Alice Elizabeth WOOD (Frank WOOD and Jessie Caroline PINSENT)

Thanks again and take care.

Monica,

I just received today a copy of some names from an old family bible. A distanct cousin said it was brought from Ireland in 1946. I am transposing what is written in the bible exactly as they are written and one name will pop out as one you mentioned to me in a post to on Jan 9.

It says at the top of the page..Henry Douglass 1854

Henry Douglass and Jane Agnes McCalla, married in the Eglinton Presbyterian Church by The Rev'd James Martin - 1 November 1864

Leah Spence Born in the year 1797

Francis McCalla Douglass 5 January 1866

Leah Spence Douglass Born 5 June 1867

Leah Spence Douglass, daughter of Henry Douglas Died 26 November 1883

Leah Douglass, mother of Henry Douglass died 1 January 1885

Francis McCalla died 24 February 1894
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

This bible was in the possession of my Gr-Grandmother who was born Leah Douglass in Paisley in 1862. My best guess is the Henry Douglass was Leah's fathers (James Douglass) brother. According to the information in the bible Henry and his wife Agnes only had 2 daughters who died young. That would mean the information you gave for a Christening of William Douglass on 10 November 1822 at St Annes Parish, Belfast (Parents James Douglass and Leah Spence) links with my family tree. My Gr-Grandmother's grandparents seem to be this James Douglass and Leah Spence.

It would be interesting to see if I can find where James Douglass/Leah Spence were born. With the information in the bible I have Leah as 1797-1885. There seems to be no indication about James or where either one was born.

I am excited to have gotten this information out of the blue. I had to relook at my posts as the name Leah Spence seemed to be familiar---Thanks!!

To everyone,

Many thanks for your help. I have contacted the cemetery in Carmoney and found the information.

Also the Ulster Covenant information I was unaware of. I have looked it up and it is fascinating.

Hi everyone,

Hoping you can help me again, you have all been brilliant! I found some more information and trying to investigate further. There are two mysteries I am trying to track down

1. My Grandfather, Joseph Christie (B Belfast 1899) had a younger brother, William Henry Christie born either 1904 or 1905. He died in an accident as a young boy. I am trying to track down when he was born and died.

2. I have located my Gr-Grandfather's (Joseph + Wm's Father) burial record. What it states on it is the following

Thomas John CHristie
Died 6th August 1916
Aged 55
And was Interred in Carmoney

Hi Wozzle,

This has some possibilities and thank you for the information. My challenge has been that they married in Belfast, moved to Paisley, had children, and then moved  back to Belfast and had more children. I
