I am a descendant of William Henry O'Carroll of Oak Park House, Arrabeg Co Tipperary. He was my great grandfather. He married Florence Reid. His parents were Dalton Carroll and Anna Pick (Pic). Dalton's Parents were William Dalton Carroll and Catherine O'Dell. William Dalton Carroll's parents were William Carroll and Francess Dalton. William Carroll's Father was Francis Carroll, not sure of mother. Francis Carroll's Father was John O'Carroll (Capt) John OCarroll 4th in descent from Maolroona (Calvach of Modeeny, died 1590) John OCarroll was captain in the Regiment of Foot of Colonel Grace 1690. John resided at Arrabeg, Vide Book of Settlement and Will of J Carroll Arraghmore 1723 John had a brother Roger, of Kilfadda Castle Kilfadda Aglish parish Co Tipp. Ireland.  :) Thank you so much AnnClare!  New information is always great, but with a source it is even better.  There is much known about the Carrolls.  Unfortunately there are also many holes to fill and brickwalls to climb.  Thanks for easing my journey!    ...J. C. Dean

Tipperary / Kilfadda Carrolls?
« on: Tuesday 06 January 09 21:46 GMT (UK)  »
Was there such a family?  Griffiths Valuation shows a James Carroll, Kilfadda, Aglishclogane of County Tipperary from the mid 1800s.  I have not been able to uncover any information concerning any Carrolls from Kilfadda who were from the 1700s or earlier.  Ronald Hoffman talks of Alexander and his son Caesar Carroll (both wild geese?) as well as James Carroll of Ballycrenode and his sister (all from Kilfadda) in his book "The Princes of Ireland, Planters of MD".  Other than this I cannot find any information documenting the Kilfadda Carrolls.  Are there additional sources and information on this family of Carrolls?  I welcome your input.

Offaly (Kings) / Daniel Carroll's daughter
« on: Tuesday 06 January 09 21:35 GMT (UK)  »
Looking for the following information on Daniel Carroll of Aghagurty/Litterluna and his daughter, ? Carroll, and her husband.  According to "Princes of Ireland, Planters of MD" Daniel's daughter married James Carroll of Ballycrenode?  I have recently been made aware that James Carroll of Ballycrenode married Elizabeth Carroll, daughter of William Carroll of Ballycrenode who died in 1706.  My questions are:

1) Does a will or will abstract exist of Daniel Carroll of Aghagurty and if so is a copy or an informed interpretation of the will or abstract available?

2) What was the name of Daniel's daughter?

3) Did Daniel's daughter marry a Carroll?  Was he a James Carroll?  If so from which family of Carrolls was he from?

4) Is there any information on Daniel's grandchildren from his daughter and her husband?

I realize these are difficult questions - ones I and many others have been long struggling with; however any and all help will be deeply welcomed and appreciated.
Thanks for reading!  ...J. C. Dean

Cork / James Carroll and Jane Blake
« on: Friday 26 December 08 21:59 GMT (UK)  »
Looking for 2 needles in a huge haystack!  Any information on James Carroll and Jane Blake would be much appreciated to say the least!  They are my Irish connection and were my 5g grandparents.  All I have is the following information: They lived and died in County Cork near the city of Cork (1mile or 5 miles?) and had 4 known children - Charles b.~1755; Daniel; William b~1756/7 and Ann or Annie (the 3 boys came to America in ~1775 or earlier).  Anything else I might add would be speculation only.
I'm praying for a good needle finder or two!
