If anyone in Swansea could look up the following in the Cambrian newspaper I'd be extremely grateful?
My wife's family are related to the Maliphants; oddly the earliest cast-iron link Maliphant I've found was a George born in Ireland in 1798 (per 1841 census Llansamlet) and family lore says he was born in a canal warehouse during the United Irishmen uprising. I presume his father was a mason involved in building the canals but this is just conjecture.

This is the marriage of his daughter and I was hoping it could shed a little light.

MARRIAGES, MARRIAGE 06 July 1866 ON 3 JULY, AT THE PARISH CHURCH, SWANSEA, THOMAS DAVIES, SHIPWRIGHT, TO CATHERINE MALIPHANT.

One possibility for George Maliphant's father might be a Charles Maliphant.
There is a link to the White Rock Copper works & I wondered if this notice might help?
Cambrian C10 DEATHS, DEATH NOTICES  02 April 1836 AT WHITE ROCK,NEAR SWANSEA,CHARLES MALIPHANT, AGED 81.

Thank you if anyone could help with either of these.

Michael

Hello Kev & thanks for the offer.
I am looking for a Patrick O'Gara, a bombardier in the Royal Artillery; believe he died in service between 1851 and 1861.
In 1851 he was resident at the RA barracks in Woolwich.
Name was spelt Ocara in 1851 census.
Thanks if you can look him up anytime.
Best wishes
Michael Case
