It depends who you think I might be?

My surname is that of a manufacturer of preserves........That's cryptic for so early on a morning. Try mailing me on (*) a company e-mail and I will give you my personal e-mail.....
Regards
Paul

Hello Diane

Yes the church is still there...Opposite what used to be a fine hostelry, The Golden Cock. I doubt if there will be a head stone, most patients were only afforded a simple, pauper type funeral.

You may try contacting Anne Littlewood; author of 'Storthes Hall Remembered'. She is the expert on all things to do with the hospital.

If you type the name of her book in goggle you will find her website. Anne is incredibly approachable and always willing to help.

May I wish you and yours the best for the festive season.

Paul

Hello...Most Patients were actually buried at Farnley Tyas church.....To avoid embarrassment to future generations....Their place of death was always written as 'North Spring House' this was also used in obituary's in newspapers.....Hope this helps.

The hospital Chaplin was always the vicar of the afore mentioned church. The lovely and delightfull Vicar Oswald, officiated at many state executions and actually died at Storthes Hall, not because of any mental illness. This was because he had a terminal illness and the staff wanted to show him the very best of nursing care in his final days as a mark of gratitude and respect for his years of service to the hospital. R.I. P.
