Hi Stephen,

This is wonderful.  I just recently found out that Michael was Terence's son.  I have been trying to find information on Michael's line. I didn't know that Terence (s/o Michael) married. I would love to hear more from you. I live in the States, but will be in Australia this coming winter.

I am looking for ancestors and descendants of John O'BRIEN and Bridget HAYES of Bealnalicka.  They had children (that I know of):

Terence b. 1810 in Bealnalicka d. 1869 in Sandhurst, Australia (married Bridget in Bealnalicka)
Margaret b. 1814 in Bealnalicka d. 1893 in Portland, Australia (married John Edwards in Corofin)
Daniel James b. 1821 in Bealnalicka d. 1886 Kangaroo Flats, Australia (never married)
Mary b. 1824 in Bealnalicka d. 1899 in Kangaroo Flats, Australia (never married)
Patrick John b. 1831 in Bealnalicka d. 1884 in Kangaroo Flats, Australia (never married)
Bridget Ann b. 1835 in Bealnalicka d. 1877 in Sandhurst, Australia (married Nicholas Francis Breen)

This entire family just packed up and left Ireland in the early 1850s (after the famine).  Terence (who I descend from) purchased the Hibernian Hotel at 365 High-street, Golden Square in Australia in 1858 and it stayed in the family for almost a century.

Australia Lookups completed / Re: Ballarat Cemetery Lookup

Hi Sue,

Thank you so much.  These brothers have been hard to locate. It looks like I will have to try ordering the records.  The BMD index for both of these Thomas Robert's do not list parents, so I was hoping the MIs and burial locations would give some sort of clue.  Thank you, again.

Hi Sue,

Would you be so kind to do a look up for me?  I have two brothers that I know buried in Ballarat; John ROBERTS died 29 Jul 1867 and Jeff ROBERTS died 20 Aug 1894. I have both their death certificates.  On John's death certificate a brother named Thomas ROBERTS from Ballarat East is the informer.  I have searched through the index and cannot find Thomas. I do not know if the brothers are buried together, but I am hoping Thomas is not too far away.

These three were born in County Kildare, Ireland to Henry ROBERTS and Alicia LOCKHART.

Thank you!

Steph

Hi Hibee,

Unfortunately, neither ladies are her  :-[

Could you please tell me is there an online membership to access the Greenock Advertiser.  If it is not accessable online, would you be willing to look up two more :)

This is what I have...

22 Feb 1848
"Never was so many failures in large houses as has been the last six months you will learn from Daniel that our two Uncles have died .  both within a very short time of each other - I attended Uncle Johns Funeral but never heard of Arch. death until I was up at that time."

So, I am looking for Archibald and John Hunter from Aug 1847 to Feb 1848.  Archibald would have died first.

I would truly appreciate it

From a family letter I have this inforamtion....

Dec 1843
"Grandmother was living with us for a bout 8 months and died in May last."

If someone would be willing to lookup a ??? Hunter or Mary Ross who died May 1843 I would truly appreciate it. (I am not sure if it was Grandma Hunter or Grandma Ross.  I do not have Grandma Hunter's first name.)

My other Hunters are buried in Lair 386, class 1, section L with whom she was living with in 1843.

Or could someone let me know what is the charge to make a request to the cemetery and if the below address is correct?

Burial Grounds Officer
Greenock Crematorium
1 South Street
Greenock PA16 8UG
Phone (01475) 715658
Fax (01475) 730345

Thank you,

Stephanie
