Have you tried the Electorial Register for 1939=1940
You will have to visit the Library in Dublin to search the full index
To view the results download the Djvu file to your browser

« on: Wednesday 24 December 08 20:38 GMT (UK)  »
Anyone out there got the following in there family.

Patrick Shanahan and Catherine Enright
From the 1901 Dublin census, Patrick's age tells me he was born in 1833.
I am unsure if they married before coming to Dublin.
There first child i have is Peter born in 1863 Dublin.

Can you help?

You could take a look here http://ifhf.brsgenealogy.com/

I did a quick search between 1800 and 1888 for the whole of Ireland for Arthur but with no results.
The site however does not include central Dublin.
You best bet now would be to search the Civil Birth Index either in the GRO in Abbey Street or in the Gilbert Library in Pearce Street. You might like to ask if someone on the boards was planing a visit and could they do the lookup for you.
