Many thanks to both Sue and Scrabble.

Scrabble, any sign of a christening for Mary Sutton?  I'm guessing about 1750.

Very many thanks Sue.

Is there any sign of either of their christenings?

Essex / Doddinghurst James Sawkins marriage Lookup request
« on: Sunday 22 January 12 20:36 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I wondered if Scrabble could possibly do a lookup for me, please?

I am looking for the marriage of James Sawkins to a Mary.  They had 8 children christened in Doddinghurst from Jun 1773 to 1808, so I'm wondering if they married there too.  I'd love to know Mary's maiden name.

Also is there a christening record for James Sawkins in Doddinghurst or surrounding area?

Thank you
Ella-Louise

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Batley Christening lookup please
« on: Saturday 07 March 09 20:46 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

Could anyone lookup a christening in Batley for me please?

Charles Firth was baptised 6 July 1806.  I believe that the Dade registers used in Batley at that time will give more than the usual amount of information.  What I know so far is that his parents are John & Betty Firth and anything else would be very helpful.

Best wishes

Dear Sue,

Thanks so much for taking the time to look that up for me, especially over the holiday period.  These look very much like my two Thompsons.

I would appreciate any earlier Thompson's too please, as it might help me to get a few more generations back.

Best wishes

Dear B,

Apologies,  you can tell I'm new at this.  I've tried again, and hopefully I've done it correctly this time.

Thank you, and Merry Christmas,
Ella-Louise

Dear Sue,

I wonder if you could help me please?

I have a William Thomas Thompson 1851 Bermondsey (born about 1817) and his son Christopher  Thompson 1861 Whitechapel (born about 1839) who are both lightermen.  The father says he is a lighterman master in 1861 (Whitechapel).  Could you see if you could find them for me please?

Does the lighterman 'master' bit have any significance?  I think the census says he employs 2 men.

Many thanks and Merry Christmas,
Ella-Louise
