If I were you, I'd really try to find out what the M in Margaret stood for, just to check if the Jemima connection is correct at all.

As Newf asked - do you know when they emigrated? Did they leave Louisa behind (if she is the one who married Edward Maryon, she was still in England in 1864)?

actually most of it makes sense. i show an early death for jemima, and arrival appears to be around 1860's, i am researching that now.

mary ann brooking b. 1844
william brooking b. 1848
margaret m brooking b.1849
Those names all match the James & Jane couple in the 1851 census - again in TorMoham ...

my great aunt built the tree, i am trying to expand it further back into england, holland and scotland .

so there might ne misinformation, as it stands?

ah - you added Newton Abbot !  :)

They should have been. it appears margaret m brooking was born in Newton Abbot, Torquay, Devon, England. she died in bethel Connecticut.  James & Jemima were married in 1840 in Newton Abbot, Torquay, Devon, England. i have no other info about them.

Devon / 6th generation BROOKING (james & Jemima)

Hello ALL:

I am a 6th generation decendent of James Brooking (b. 1810) and Jemima Dart (b. 1820).  I live in the US and my Great Great Grandma Margaret M Brooking was the daughter of James & Jemima.

My tree has no history prior to James & Jemima.  I hope the names and birth dates are enough for some one to take notice.

Both were from Newton Abbot, Torquay, Devon, England

Thank you for any info you may have.

Jim
