Hi Janet,

I found a William Waterhouse born 1st January 1822 son of Richard & Ann baptised at St Mary's RC Brownedge Walton le Dale. Godparents Lawrence Brown & Betty Woodcock.
There is a Richard born 11th Sept.1796 to Thomas & Ann bapt. at the same church who could be his father in 1841 he is aged 40-44 and 1851 58 years old.
There are dozens of Waterhouses in this area if you want more info send me your email and when I have time I will try and help in more detail

Hi Matt,

There is nothing at St Pats, but quite a few at St Mary's Brownedge and St Bede's Clayton Green.
Do you want all the details, baptisms, marriages and deaths and burials?
Could you give me a bit more info. and your email if possible as there is quite a lot to type out.

You are in luck, although I haven't transcribed Pleasington Priory myself, I have copied members of my family from the transcriptions done by the Blackburn Branch of the LFHHS.
Also your Hugh Ackers is, according to Family Tree Maker, my 4th cousin twice removed!
Born illegitimately to Esther Ackers on 28th July 1861, father Levi Snape, bapt. Pleasington Priory, married Margaret Collins 8th August 1892 at Pleasington Priory and died 12th November 1908 in Blackburn and buried at Pleasington Priory.
I'd love to know how Hugh is related to you, and please contact me again if you need any more 'Acker info'.

I am a newbie and everytime I look at unread posts, I am always too late to help anybody, and I would like to help, so I am sad. So anyone who would like lookups in the RC baptisms, marriages and burials for St Joseph's Brindle, St Mary's Brownedge, Our Lady & St Patrick's Walton le Dale, St Bede's Clayton Green or St Mary's Leyland up to 1930 ish. I have transcribed them. Also oddments of other church's monumental inscriptions.
Just tell me.

What we know is that he was Isaac Foster, he had for certain two daughters Mary c.1830 and Ellen c.1836 both born Corfu. There were three others who may have been born there but not certainly.
Mary married a Richard Golding c.1847[also a soldier] possibly in Canada and had several children in Nova Scotia before coming to spend the rest of her life in England.
Isaac and a son Thomas were living in Malta in 1874 [she has a letter from him dated then] Ellen was also in England by the 1850's and married an Englishman.

  Hi everyone,

I am still finding my way around this so interesting site, so I hope I am asking the question in the right place.
 Last week I was helped with a problem, that had bugged me for weeks, in a matter of hours. Great stuff!
Now I am trying to help a lady who came to our beginners workshop to find out about her ancestors. But I know zilch about military stuff and so with that part I am stuck.
Does anyone out there know which regiment(s) were stationed in Corfu in the 1830's where her ancector and family members were born. I know they went to Malta later.
