Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / My Heritage £35 Unlock Features
« on: Wednesday 21 May 25 15:18 BST (UK)  »
Hi Everyone,
I fully subscribed to Ancestry which I get use from every day especially for my shared Ancestry DNA matches but would like to access some of my shared Smith matches on My Heritage.
I don't subscribe to My Heritage but have downloaded my DNA to MyHeritage via Ancestry.
My question is .... Have any of you lovely Rootschatters used the £35 one time payment of the Unlock facility they offer to be able to view your shared matches with a shared DNA match ?
Just wanted to check before I sign up you do actually see the shared matches with a particular shared match-just so I understand it correctly.
I didn't want to sign up and then a yearly subscription is debited.
Sorry to be a bother and many thanks in advance for any replies.
Helen.

« on: Monday 05 May 25 13:30 BST (UK)  »
Hello all Rootschatters,
I am just doing a little research regarding Henry H Follis mmn Mills who was born in Stroud registration district in 1916.
His occupation was a Clerk in Holy Orders.
I have him listed on 1939 registered living with a McLeod family.
I haven't been able to locate a death , I am presuming he has passed away by now.
Would love a photograph or any info on any diocese parishes he may have been connected with.
Many thanks in advance for any help you may be able to offer.
Warmest regards....Helen.

The Common Room / Re: Whitstable Newspaper Lookup
« on: Wednesday 26 March 25 18:25 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Everyone,
Thank you so much for all your valuable input.
The advert for a companion for Matilda King would have been put in anytime from 1911 until early 1921.
My interest is in Emma Hunt who was the companion to Matilda King.
Emma is my 1 cousin x 3 times removed .
I have everything from birth to death on my Emma Hunt that I need but I was just wondering if she answered an advertisment for the role of companion.
Regarding the other memers of the address in 1921 I just wondered what had happened to them moving into the future.
I am planning a visit to Whitstable in the summer and looking forward to follwing Emma's footsteps.
I am always appreciative of anything you find regarding the address.

The Common Room / Whitstable Newspaper Lookup
« on: Wednesday 26 March 25 15:29 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Rootschatters,

I was wondering if permissable if anyone could possibly be so kind to do a newspaper look up search for me.

I am interested in gleaning if an advertisement was ever placed for a companion for a Mrs Matilda King who resided at Way Post House, Borstal Hill, Whitstable, Kent. The advert may have been placed in the Whitstable Times and Tankard Press if it was in print then.

Also, at the same time there is a gentleman called Maurice Relf mentioned on 1-1-1938 publication in the above Newspaper. I would love details regarding the article published.

As always I would honestly appreciate any help and time spent helping me with this search.

Warmest regards....Helen.

The Common Room / Emma Hunt-1901-Bethnall Green
« on: Sunday 23 March 25 13:05 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Rootschatters,

Please would anyone be so kind and have time to decipher which university settlement my Emma Hunt was working at and the roads that surround settlement listed on the 1901 census.

I can't quite make it out and am planning a visit to the area during the Easter holidays.

The details to find her are as follows :-

Emma Hunt born Shorid, Gloucestershire 1869 employed as a servant.

1901 Census piece 288-Folio 124-page 14.

Her details are enumerated incorrectly but I have everything I need on her from birth to death and all information through her life but would love the university name and roads listed next to the building as finding it difficult to dicipher.

As always really appreciate any help and time spent on this.

Regards....Helen.

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Re: I am so upset .....
« on: Friday 21 March 25 17:09 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all rootschatters,
Thank you so much for all your messages and thoughts.
Just to clarify I think I was shocked that my actual whole tree with me listed as living and all the additional family photographs etc information is shown on her Ancestry page when I really only have an extremely distant connection < 10cm DNA > with her.
I have never shared my log in details or sent her an invite to share over my tree as you are able to do on Ancestry.
As always you are all a wonderful community and really appreciate the rootschat forum.
Warmest regards and hope you all have a relaxing weekend.
Helen.

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / I am so upset .....
« on: Friday 21 March 25 11:26 GMT (UK)  »
Hi lovely rootschatters,

Yesterday I logged into my Ancestry account as I do daily to check my new DNA matches and do a little family history research on my family tree which I have built up with my own verified research over the last 25 years.

I noticed a lady who I have brief cordial messages with, no more than half a dozen exchanged between us due to the fact that she shares very distant DNA between us only 10cm and a closer match with my son 124cm on his paternal line in which we both know how my son is connected to her.

I noticed yesterday she has the whole of my family tree and research appeared on her own Ancestry page listed as B family tree.

How on earth has she managed to transfer the whole of my tree onto her Ancestry page ?

I definitely have not given her an invite to share my tree over to her although my tree is public on Ancestry.

My tree has only 800 names on it all totally verified with lots of hard graft and money dedicated to it,hers has nearly 60,000 people on.

What would you lovely rootschatter do ? Message her regarding this or ignore it ?

For me this is really upsetting....any advice would really be appreciated. Thank you so much for taking time to read my message.

Warmest regards...Helen.

Many thanks.
