Cambridgeshire Lookup Requests / Re: Bradford of Westley Waterlass Cambrigeshire
« on: Thursday 06 May 10 08:15 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I am also seeking further information on the Bradfords of Westley Waterless. The lady in question is Anne Bradford born c 1782 (Westley Waterless) who married George Radford on 2 Jan 1803 in Westley Waterless.  Any further information through birth dates or their marriage is greatly appreciated. They appear to have settled in Brinkley to raise their family.

Thanking you in advance.

Minnie :)

Ireland / Richard Boyle - Earl of Cork
« on: Monday 08 March 10 20:29 GMT (UK)  »
I am interested in the life of Richard Boyle and his influence in Ireland in the early 1600s. In my readings I have come across another Richard Boyle of Maisemore who was his godfather. To date, I have not been able to establish their relationship. I was wondering if anyone knew?

Thank you
Minnie

Cork / Is there a place called Drumoch?
« on: Monday 26 October 09 07:02 GMT (UK)  »
I received a birth certificate today for one Bridget Sullivan born in Lochinvar New South Wales on 25 May 1866. However, I am puzzled over her father's place of birth. His name was Patrick Sullivan born in 1809 in Drumoch County Cork Ireland.

I am having trouble finding further information on Drumoch. Can anyone help me please? ???

Inverness / Donald McBean of Dores Inverness
« on: Friday 16 October 09 02:56 BST (UK)  »
Hello I would love to make contact with anyone researching the following line -

Donald McBean of Dores Inverness born 1802 (parents William McBean and Catherine McDonald). He married Graham McKenzie (yes this is a woman's name) who is a bit of a mystery. Some sources say she was born in Edinburghshire while others say Lanarkshire. She was at least 30 years younger than Donald - born 1831 (Parents Donald McKenzie and Elizabeth Graham). They had Jane born in 1851 in Inverness and Catherine born in 1853 in Ballachulish Glencoe Argyle. The four emigrated to Australia on the Sabrina in 1855. This family settled in Queensland and had a total of 12 children of which there was 2 sets of twins.

Cork / William Cecil - Bandon Cork
« on: Monday 10 August 09 04:14 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to pick up traces of a family called Cecil (Sicell) of English origin (possibly from Gloucestershire) who settled in the Bandon area in the early 1600s. I am aware of a Capt William Cecil who died in 1650. He had a sister called Anne Cossens who lived in Kinsale. He had a young son at the time of his death also called William and Anne possibly became his guardian. Anne could possibly be related to the Richard Cozene of Kinsale who was listed in the 1659 census.  ??? Thank you Minnie

Family History Beginners Board / Extracted Probate for SICELL / COSSENS
« on: Sunday 02 August 09 08:30 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I have found the following extracted probate taken from the Probate Act in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury London.

Sicell, Captain William at the house of his sister Anne Cossens in Kinsale Co Cork Ireland July 18 1650. Admon w. will (180 Pembroke) Nov 7 to sister Anne Cossens dm son William N. E.

I am having trouble understanding the abbreviations and the legal terminology.

Such as "admon w." "dm" "N E"  "180 Pembroke".

Did Capt Sicell die on July 18 1650 in Ireland and his will which was made in England, is being proved on Nov 7.

I would be very appreciative if anyone could enlighten me on this text.

Many thanks

Minnie
