Northumberland Lookup Requests / Re: Census Lookup - John Bruce
« on: Wednesday 19 November 08 15:00 GMT (UK) »Hi Printer
I'm finding bucket loads about the BESFORDS....
MARRIAGE: Can't find?
Jane BRUCE or BREWIS
Anthony BESFORD or BEDFORD
The Surname is oft-recorded as BEDFORD, and from 1900 onwards, seems to take that form in most records I found.......
In short many of them ended up in the State of Indiana in the US, including the parents, Anthony and Jane.
Anthony eventually made his way back to England and died there 1919.
Jane died in the US in 1909.
I'm trying to keep it all straight and comprhensible, so will try and put all the information up in some sort of order :-)
Cheers
AMBLY
This is true - they came and settled in Shelbourne, IN, and then John and Annie settled in Vincennes, IN, where they raised their family. My grandfather, John, and his brothers worked in the coal mines in that area. Jane is buried in Shelbourne, IN. My grandparents are buried in Vincennes, IN. I am the daughter of Martha Bedford, their youngest daughter. My grandmother, Anna, was a wonderful, hard-working woman. She was known as Anna Bedford, not Annie. She passed away in Bevier, Missouri, in 1973. I never knew my grandfather. He was a lot older than grandma. I do know that my grandmother dearly missed England and her siblings ( Ethel, Minnie and Wiliam). My grandfather and grandmother took excellent care of his first wife, Barbara Potts, when she was ill and dying. My grandma was a young woman who worked as a maid at the Blue Bell Inn. Thusly, how she met my Grandfather.
Lots more to share with you, but we never knew Elizabeth's maiden name or much about her so now we do! Thanks!
