Australia / Re: John BURNETT , Queensland
« on: Friday 04 February 11 21:29 GMT (UK)  »
Hello Curley,

a search on ancestry provided that death and marriage record....same parents is usually a good clue to tie people together. perhaps if u order that certificate it should state where birthplace and how long he has been in Australia for.

Name:     John Burnett
Death Date:    12 Apr 1940
Death Place:    Queensland
Father's name:    John
Mother's name:    Margaret Love
Registration Year:    1940
Registration Place:    Queensland
Registration Number:    B047563
Page Number:    303

I did find a passenger list that may fit...he may have lied of age by two years to say he was 18....? this is the closet on ancestry though they wouldnt have every passenger list (i would think)

Queensland, Australia, Passenger Lists, 1848-1912
about John Burnett
Name:    John Burnett
Age:    18
Birth Year:    abt 1865
Ship Name:    Duntrune
Port of Departure:    Dundee, Scotland
Port of Arrival:    Brisbane
Arrival Date:    29 Dec 1883

bit odd that he was in QLD for so long before married....1883 till 1914...but not impossible.

a search of marriage records as you would know shows him to be the only john burnett married so perhaps that is correct and his wife was Florence. although a search from 1883 (year of that arrival) shows possible first wife in Australia is..

1885/C1092   Burnett   John     McDonald     Mary

Hope that is some thought provoking information

Lauren

Australia / Maryborough Forebears Magazine/Arnotts Milk Arrowroot Children
« on: Tuesday 14 December 10 04:05 GMT (UK)  »
I was just looking around the Maryborough Society Website and came across Forebears magazine and is has cover page for 1999 March edition that includes Arnotts Milk Arrowroot Children. I know my ancestor William Kapper was one of these children involved in the advertising campaign.
Just curious if anyone has a copy of access to this magazine edition and whether William Kapper was mentioned.
thanking you in advance,
Lauren

apparently he told family the story of his parents being ambulance officers etc.....originally my father thought his family might have been american but according to my great uncle his death and marriage certs say born ipswich nothing about parents.

its very annoying - as out of all the family members on my father's side he really really wanted to know about him the most. hmmmm

Suffolk / the Elusive Edward John WILLIAMS & Family
« on: Thursday 23 July 09 07:33 BST (UK)  »
Hey Everyone.

I am looking for any help possible.

Edward John Williams appears in Queensland Australia in 1934 for his wedding. His birth is 18 Oct 1907 in Ipswich Suffolk and death in 1997 in Queensland.

the family have been told that since arriving in Australia he may have changed his name and thought to have made age 5 yrs older cause wife didnt want a younger husband. he told everyone he had no family except twin sister as both parents were ambulance officers in WW1 and both killied in action - they were sent to australia as orphans.

this is all the info myself and other family members researching have.

would really love any info or hints as to what i should do.

thanks, Lauren
