Hi

Transcription indexes of the parish confirm the marriage and date:

7 Dec 1767 Robert Barrett to Elizabeth Golding (spin), both otp. banns

Baptism indexes also confirm baptism of Hannah on 10 Nov 1776 St. George.  Parents Robert and Elizabeth Barret.

Hi John

He was buried in the graveyard of Christchurch, Aberbeeg.

I have some burial records from that time and amongst them is the following entry:

Ewart William Thomas   Llanhilleth  age 7  16/07/1918

Aberbeeg is less than a mile north of Llanhilleth.

The only possible I can see in an index of marriage transcriptions from around that time is this one:

15 May 1826  Llantilio Pertholey

John PARSONS to Sarah JONES

both bride and groom otp

These are the only deails included.

Hi Lizzie

There are Llantilio Crossenny parish transcriptions online at Mike John's Monmouthshire site:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~monfamilies/monfh.htm

There is a likely marriage for your James & Ann in 1821.

Yes, all the transcriptions listed under Trevethin on Mike John's site are taken from the registers of St. Cadoc's.  There are also Bishop Transcripts of some baptisms.

They were both buried at St. Cadoc's:

I don't know if the burial plots have been mapped.

Monmouthshire Lookup Requests / Re: Somerset House
« on: Wednesday 30 June 10 22:31 BST (UK)  »
I can't pinpoint Somerset House for you hencarrai but judging by the description of the enumeration district in which it was located on the 1861 I'd say it was between the village of Six Bells, a small village adjoining Abertillery to the south and the southern end of Abertillery itself.

The enumeration district mentions:  Pantyarrail, Cwmnanty, Rhiw Park, the Coach and Horses pub (still a Coach and Horses in the area though don't know if it's the original, or still open), and there is still a Pantypudding Road.  Most of the names described are still there in some form.  The main road from Six Bells to Abertillery is Alexander Road which then becomes Somerset Street in Abertillery.  Also too, there was a Somerset Hotel further along Somerset Street.  Can find no mention of Somerset House in a street atlas of the area but I think this is the right area.

If you search for Abertillery on Google maps, zoom in and Somerset Street soon appears.  Street View is available.

Monmouthshire Lookup Requests / Re: HARRIS of Monmouthshire

No, sorry Nadine, I haven't come across any Harris connections in Blaina.  The William Harris discussed above was a coal miner but moved to Monmouthshire from Pembrokeshire in the 1860's.

Thanks for the info dmc.  I will have a dig around and see if I can find anything more on Rachel and William's first wife Fanny.  Will be sure to let you know if I do.
