I did come across a William Hannington b abt 1789 in Middlesex according to the 1851 census. Said to be a contractor of brick he was living in Newcastle with his wife Mary b 1784 also from Middlesex. Also living with them was a Joseph Hannington (again a contractor of brick, his wife Elizabeth and son William) a Mary Ann Hannington (married to ? and her son Richard) and also an Edward Errington (a tailor , wife Mary and daughter Mary Jane) and a Thomas Smart a fitter turner and wife Jane.
All apart from William and Mary were born in Northumberland mainly round Newcastle. The 1841 census calls William a brick manufacturer
It's got to be the same family but I can't work out the link, sorry to have been so long winded.

Am new to this site so please forgive any mistakes.
I'm trying to find out information about George Hannington b abt 1790 in Dorset (according to the census) he married a Mary Armstrong and founded Hannington Brick works in Swallwell. I know others were looking for this family a while back and wondered if they found any information. Can't find anything on either George or Marys parents.

Cheshire / Re: Nether Alderley and Broken Cross
« on: Sunday 26 April 09 00:25 BST (UK)  »
Hi 1st post on this site
My Grandparents used to live in Smithy Cottage, Over Alderley, the disused Smithy (which still had the anvil in) was next door. One the other side of my family my aunt lives down the road from where the Broken Cross smithy used to be.
Other bits. Nether Alderley and Broken Cross are 2 totally seperate places. Welsh Row (where my grandmother was born) is in Nether Alderley. Cheadle Hulme ( where I was brought up), had its own Smithy in a place called Smithy Green.
Hope this helps
Debbie
