Worcestershire / Re: Blomer Sisters
« on: Sunday 13 March 11 13:16 GMT (UK)  »

Hi,

I've been tracing William Window Phipps so have come across a Clarinda Mary Blomer. I have them marrying in 1795, not 1835 - on Ancestry there's two Pallot enties for them, I believe the 1835 entry is mis-transcibed.

This Clarinda Blomer I have as being born in 1772 in Pershore, worcestershire.

William and Clarinda had two children; Thomas Blomer Phipps b 1796 and Clarinda Mary Phipps b 1803 - I think Clarinda the wife may have died in child birth as William Window Phipps then remarries in 1803 to Frances Saffery (and he is down as being widowed at the time).

William Windows parents were Thomas Phipps b 1724 (possibly Evesham) and Mary Window b 1738 in Gloucester. They married on Nov 2 1766 at St.Nicholas, in Gloucester.

Hope this helps !

-Kevin.

Buckinghamshire Completed Look ups / Re: HARE in Beaconsfield census lookup plz

Hi,

An Elizabeth Hare of Beaconsfield is one of my direct ancestors - she married a James Rance in Beaconsfield, and later died in 1867 (James rance died much earlier, in 1845).

I don't have all my records to hand at work, but does this tie up with anything you have found thus far. I haven't managed to get back any further on the Hare side, so I'm very interested in what you may have found !

Northamptonshire / William Bliss of Flore, born 1724
« on: Thursday 11 December 08 21:28 GMT (UK)  »

Hi,

I'm directly descended from William Bliss and Abigail Folwell of Flore, Northants.

Below is the tip of my Bliss part of the tree I have thus far :

John Bliss == Elizabeth Cross
b 1699
Hardingstone, Northants

William Bliss == Jane Shortland
b 1724
Flore, Northants

William Bliss == Elizabeth Ashby

William Bliss == Abigail Folwell
b 1773
Adstone/Flore.Northants

There's a lot of Bliss details on the web, but mostly of those who ended up in America. I've yet to tie the

above up with the US connections, and I've reached a bit of a dead end.

I have contacted the Bliss Family History Society, but they don't have any electronic data and didn't seem to

have anything additional to add to what I have already. But I know there's out there...

The earliest Blisses are described by Aaron Tyler Bliss in Genealogy of the Bliss Family in America, but it's

not available on-line and copies to purchase are a little expensive. I know from the parial Google Book

searches that are possible that this book mentions relevant names (e.g. Abigail Folwell), but I can't get to

the content. So information does exist out there, but none of it seems available on-line.

So...if anyone can help me with these Bliss's, I would have a very good Christmas indeed ! :-)

Thanks,
-Kevin Standage

Stephen Keen's will is a nightmare to read. My Aunt has transcribed it, but it's not typed up yet.

So we have a common ancestor, and I do have quite a lot of info to pass on. The Keen's I have no way finished, so we need to compare notes now before duplicating all that effort.

Please contact me via (*), and we can take it from there. If you can send over a GedCom that would help - I could have saved you the price of his wills as well, but never mind !

I do have his portrait painting, dated 1827.

Look forward to hearing from you !

Hi

Ann Keen is on my hitlist, I'm directly descended from her father Stephen Keen. Have a portrait of him dated 1827, three years before he died.

I think we need to compare notes :-)
