Cornwall Lookup Requests / Emily RICKARD 1858
« on: Saturday 29 August 09 10:55 BST (UK)  »
Good Evening Colleagues  :)
I have an Emily Rickard born in the St. Columb Registration District in the March quarter of 1858.   I could not find her on either the 1861 or 1871 census.   Could someone tell me who her parents were and where exactly she was born.   If she was not listed on the census am I to presume to died prior to 1861?   ???

Cornwall / Richard RICKARD 1770 to unknown
« on: Friday 14 August 09 04:47 BST (UK)  »
Good Afternoon Colleagues

Perhaps someone with some wisdom or a crystal ball can assist me please.  Richard was the third child of Pascoe Thomas Rickard and Catherine Hoite.   He was born and christened 20 August 1770, St.Columb Minor, Cornwall.   He married Elizabeth Thomas on 30 April 1798 St. Enoder, Cornwall, England.   One set of IGI records I saw some years ago tended to suggested that there were two weddings on the same day involving a Richard Rickard and an Elizabeth.   Unfortunately I have misplaced my references.   Can someone please confirm that there may have been a duplicate record at IGI.   Certainly would help in confirming children.
Regards and Thanks in Anticipation

Cornwall Lookup Requests / Susan RICKARD b circa 1828
« on: Sunday 26 July 09 10:04 BST (UK)  »
Good Evening Colleagues

On the 1841 census, Susan was living in the Civil Parish of St. Enoder at Summercourt.   At the time of the census, she was recorded as being 13 years of age and no occupation was recorded.   At the same address was, inter alia, her mother, Susan (age 40) with an occupation initially recorded as wife of miner but it was crossed out.   By the 1851 census Susan (1828) was recorded as an engineer's daughter.

I was wondering if you could please identify Susan's father, her mother's maiden name and where they married.

Kindest Regards

Susan was the eighth child of Richard Rickard and Mary Cook.   She was born in the December quarter 1843, but christened on 12 August 1848 at St. Columb Minor, Cornwall, England.   She married Edwin Vivyan but details of marriage are unknown.

Can we ascertain the date and place of marriage?

Madeline was the third child of William Jonothan Rickard and Mary-Jane Burt.   She was born circa 1906.   Madeline married circa 1936 to a William Rowse who was a widower and a second cousin of William Jonothan Rickard.   He was 33 years older than her at the time of their marriage and he had a son Jack from a previous marriage.   Madeline and William had one child

Questions
1.   Can we confirm a date of birth and place of birth for Madeline
2.   Are records available to determine date and place of marriage

Good Evening Graham

Quite by accident I was going through my own family notes and cames across a William Rowse who married a Madeline Ena Rickard circa 1936.   Unfortunately I have no details of where the wedding took place.   Just wondering if William happens to be on a branch of your tree?

Good Evening Tati

You have hit the jackpot as "Enoder" has been a traditional first name of family members for the best part of 250 years.

Cornwall Lookup Requests / Howard RICKARD 1883 - Botallack
« on: Wednesday 29 April 09 07:51 BST (UK)  »
Howard was the fourth child of Richard Rickard and Lydia (surname unknown).   He was born in 1883 at Botallack, St. Just in Penwith, Cornwall, England.   His year of birth is calculated on the basis that on the 1891 census he is recorded as being 8 years of age.   He married in the June quarter 1908 in the District of Penznace.

Questions
1. Do we known the name of the lady he married?
2. Can we confirm his year of birth/christening?
3. Are records available (at this stage) to let us know when he died?
