Hi All
I have found the death of Frederick Strasenburg on Scotlands people . He is registered as Frederick Stransenburg , death October 21st 1844. He was living in Johnston Street North Leith at the time of death and his occupation was a Carpenter . Age was 63 , so birth was 1781 -- was in Scotland or Germany ?

I have got his marriage certificate which indicates that his wife's ie Jean's parents being John Brown and Isabella Scott but i can find no record of her birth . They also had a son Frederick Strasenburg my grt grt grt grandfather born July 25th 1824. Her was Captain of a brig called Lawsons . He was swept overboard as the vessel headed in to a storm having set sail from cronstadt sept 25th 1862.

Hi CaroleW
I can find the death of Jean who died 1858 North Leith but nothing of Frederick . I have found possible and i say possible parents ie George Friedrich Strasenburg and Anna Marie Brixen on Family Search . There are not too many Strasenburgs's of the right age group that i can find but i have no proof that these are his parents . I'm also wondering if Strasenburg is a jewish surname.

Hi,
I'm looking to trace the ancestry of Frederick Charles Strasenburg born Germany circa 1790 . He was a mariner and moved to North Leith Scotland where he married Jean Brown in 1807. It would be wonderful if i could find out anything of his birthplace in Germany and parentage. There is evidence of the Strasenburg family name in Brandenburg but i don't know of any connection to Frederick.

West Lothian (Linlithgowshire) / James Dundas Janet Clarke

After a search on Scotlands people I have found the marriage banns for the marriage of James Dundas and Janet Clarke who were married in Bathgate Nov 13 1675. I was hoping to possibly find James Dundas's father but unfortunately I'm finding it hard to read the writing. I can make out the name John Dundas but I'm unsure if this is the father of James . Can anyone possibly help with reading the attached copy of the Banns . Thank you.

Durham / Alice Foster
« on: Wednesday 02 October 24 16:41 BST (UK)  »
Looking to find any information with regards to Alice Foster whom married Thomas Thompson November 22 1653 st Nicholas church Durham . Alice was baptised Nov 12 1632 at st Nicholas church Durham . Her father was Richard Foster. There is a marriage at St Nicholas church Oct 24 1613 which suggests Richard Foster was married to Elisabeth but I'm not sure if this is Alices parents. . Several family trees on familysearch suggest this couple as being her parents and that Richard Foster was born April 9 1592 . They state Richards parents as
being Mathew Forster and Elizabeth Forster. Having went on Durham records has actually shown that the father of Richard Foster born April 9 1592 was Robert Forster and not Mathew.
Any help in advancing the ancestry of Alice Foster would be greatly appreciated as most of what I've discovered on familysearch etc seems to be guesswork with no reliable evidence.
