Suffolk / Thomas ARMSTRONG
« on: Monday 08 November 04 07:27 GMT (UK)  »
I need to find out the birthplace of Thomas Armstrong who farmed at Shelland in the early 19th century. He married Elizabeth Wakelin (or Wheatly) at Shelland but unfortunately the parish marriage records don't give his birthplace. There is no entry for his baptism, so I assume he wasn't born in the parish, but possibly nearby - he had connections with Wetherden, I think. He was born in about 1755 and I believe he died in 1844, but sadly the 1841 Census only gives his county of birth (Suffolk). I'd be grateful if someone could look him up for me as he's a key figure in my research.

Huntingdonshire Lookup Requests / Re: Walton Brampton anything
« on: Saturday 06 November 04 08:06 GMT (UK)  »
The National Burial Index gives the following information:

Mark Walton Buried at St Mary's, Brampton on 29 March 1830 Age: 56
Mary Walton Buried at St Mary's Brampton on 6 Sept 1833 Age: 53
Ann Walton Buried at Spaldwick St James (Huntingdonshire) on 28 Jan 1892 Age: 71

Couldn't find any of the others, although there are many more entries for Waltons in Brampton (and a few for Peace), which I'd be happy to look up for you.

I checked the 1881 Census and there were no Waltons living in Brampton by that date. There are lots of people with the Walton surname in other Huntingdonshire villages, particularly Needingworth, Eynesbury, St Neots, & Somersham. I did find  Ann & Robert Peace were living at The Bull, Ch Hill, Brampton. Regards,
Susan
