CaroleW  softly softly.

Catherine McCorquodale White or Whyte born Canal St. Clydebank 1879.

on Betty Bews Hamiltons marriage certificate to Robert Paterson in 1940, both of Bettys parents still alive.

Looks like you have found the deaths of Kathleen and Bettys parents James and Catherine Hamilton in Cathcart.

thanks a million

Thanks yes I've traced the birth of Kathleen and Betty, both born Paisley. I had Betty's marriage but thanks for the info on Kathleen.
I have the births of James Hamilton in Greenock and Catherine's birth in Clydebank. Just having problems finding records of their death.
Kind regards
Tommt

Hi, my gran Helen Clarke nee Hamilton had a number of siblings.

I have been lucky enough to find their dates of birth, spouses and deaths with one exception.

James was born in Greenock in 1878. Married Catherine Whyte or White. The last document I can find for him is the 1921 Census for Scotland. He is living in Gourock Renfrewshire with his wife Catherine and two daughters Kathleen and Betty.

I can find no record of his or his wifes death. Is it possible they emigrated or moved to another country of the UK?
Any help appreciated

Thank you all, this is very interesting. I will apply for his service records.
I'm not sure if I have mentioned this before, however, he wrote a small booklet on his experiences in various Pow Camps. This is held in the Mclean Museum in Greenock.

Hi, my grandfather Samuel Owen, born 1885 Renton Dunbartonshire, was a pre 1st WW regular in the 2nd Battalion Royal Scots Fusiliers 6999 later 60100. With the help of this site and my own research I have built up a good record of his service.
He entered service in France 6th October 1914.
I know he was captured and spent many years in German POW Camps being repatriated a number of months after the end of the War.
Doing some further research on other Owen family, I found further info on Samuel on the 1921 Census for England, here Samuel is noted on that census as being with the 1st Battalion RSF at Headquarters Tullamore Kings Co Ireland.
I know my grandfather spent time in Erskine Hospital for wounded servicemen and died in the Red Cross Hospital Paisley in 1935. Noted on death certificate as an Army Pensioner. Would he have been moved to another battalion after the War? I believe he was discharged 1922?

Alamo2008, I might have a look at some stage. It was really the A and S Hussars that confused me although as I've mention I suspected A&SH (my younger brother served in the A&SH in 1970s).
Daniel Cooper is a very distant relative, it just peaked my interest when I read the record.
Thanks again
