Thanks for all the research, I've written it all down and I'll pass it on. I was originally supposed to be finding out if she had any relatives still alive, so now I've got some names of siblings, aunts and uncles I'll see if I can find any.

I'm pleased I've found out where the surname came from, it's interesting she changed it.

For some reason I hadn't thought of that! Would there be any way of finding details about children who were evacuated? Or maybe they're confidential.

Thanks very much for your help Carol.

The only other thing I've been told about her is she may have been evacuated to Wales before going back to London. I think it's looking like she may have been adopted as I can't work out where else the name Oldham came from.

A bit more information- she was Winifred Margaret Doris Oldham (known as Wendy), DOB was 25/07/29. We got the DOB from her solicitor.

I've just done another search for a birth without the surname and there's a Winifred M D registered in Bethnal Green in Jul-Sep 1929. If both middle names are given on the birth certificate, would both initials be shown on the record or could she be one of the Winifred M's?

Thanks everyone for looking. I'll check how he knew the date of birth, but it fits with the age shown in the paper.

She died 12/10/13, so I don't think any records will be online yet. She lived in Clacton though, and as far as I know she always used the same name.

Thanks,

She was the long term partner of my relative but they never married, and I'm pretty sure she was never married before that. I think she lived in London as a child but I don't know if she was born there. At some point she moved to Essex where she lived until her death.

I'm not sure if he has seen the death certificate, but will find out. He seems certain she was born in 1929 though.

Thanks for looking. The person who gave me the information helped to arrange her funeral and seems sure about when she was born.

He thinks it's possible her parents divorced. If she took her mother's maiden name or a stepfather's name, is there any way of finding a record of this? Apart from that I don't know where else to look.

Hi,

I'm trying to find a birth record for Winifred M D Oldham, born in 1929. I'm looking on behalf of someone else and that's the only information I've got, so I'm trying to find her place of birth and mother's maiden name so I can go back from there. I've done a search but can't find the record, can anyone help me find any information?
