Another snippet...
"Ritchie's refers to the Ritchie family who owned the Glenury Royal distillery in Stonehaven from 1858 until 1938, a period when the distillery flourished before eventually closing in 1985 due to industry-wide problems. William Ritchie acquired the distillery after the founder, Captain Robert Barclay, died, and his descendants ran the distillery until its sale to a large conglomerate in 1938. Though Glenury Royal is now a "silent" or "ghost" distillery, some bottlings of its whisky occasionally appear on the market.

Not 100% certain....I was testing AI Deepseek following searching 1950s "Mearns Leader" headlines on "Dunnottar House" and feeding it into the Deepseek AI to test DeepSeek response.....Proves AI is not 100% reliable for sure.
There be a problem with AI....If it does not know, it fills in details as a child would do....Be cautious about using AI for research.....
But you csn actually read the articles.

"The British Newspaper Archive" is a great source of information....
I knew Hans Prugl who was a German POW and after the war worked for my uncle at Fetteresso...A great character....Which I was also interested to find Italian and German POWs located in the Mearns.....

Messrs F. and H. O. Ritchie, Dunnottar House: The Ritchies were wealthy jute manufacturers from Dundee who purchased the Dunnottar Estate in 1873. Their presence indicates the influence of new money and industry in the region. Dunnottar House itself was a symbol of this new wealth......
Probably old news....
