Hi Karen, thanks for the reply! I also found a John and James by this couple - and the way things seem to go, William remains elusive!! As I said in my previous message, I have no evidence at all that William is the son of Edmund at all - I've just tentatively chosen this route as William's later census returns consistently state Holsworthy as his birthplace (dates between 1803 - 06) and Edmund seemed to be the only Bussell from Holsworthy that might fit the bill!! I believe Elizabeth possibly died around 1807, and Edmund appears to have married a Mary Ann Hurdle in 1808 - but again, this could be another Edmund!! In 1841 William was living in Bristol with his wife Hannah and children, but on the census, there is also a John Bussell aged 30 - could this be his brother?? All so intriguing.... I guess it's a matter of finding the parish record of his birth, or his later marriage to a Hannah Wyatt from West Harptree, to confirm more - but neither records can I find ... yet!!
Thank you again, for taking the time to have a look for me...
